"Music from outside of the game is not allowed"

Why? It would be so nice for me to run with my music. If u can clearly hear the game music and it´s SFX i don´t know why to ban other music, so pls if u can tell me why or delete that rule, it would be nice.

It looks like a pretty strict rule, actually. I agree with you: if the game audio is still audible and therefore proves you're not cHeAtInG by disabling BGM/BGS it should be totally fine.

It is because for those who stream, run with external music is better to keep the viewers from going away because too much resets, they just chill with the music. And it is overall better to the streamer too.

But at the same time I understand that keeping the original audio is better to assure the run is legit. If a cheater decides, for instance, use a 1.1 acceleration, the only way to note it would be from the accelerated music. So it is better to keep it prohibited.

In Resident Evil 3 they allow external music and I don't agree with it (although I LOVE to do marathons that I will NOT upload with my playlist rolling).

It is rather easy separate in-game music from external music through OBS. In that way you can listen and have external music during the stream (also for the viewers), however the recording and highlight won't have external music.

I.e.

This can also be used to remove Mic voice if wanted too.

Not having external music in your video is a best practice, both YouTube and Twitch will likely remove your video at some point due to copyright infringement.

On top of that external music can be used as trick to cheat, making Mod life harder in the verification process.

When I was speedrunning I used to listen some "external" music from phone. In other words, I heard the game from one earphone and the music from another earphone XD

FYI There was a small update on this topic yesterday, but mothing has really changed:

""Twitch will remove any VODs and Clips that contain unauthorized music from the creator’s channel. If a live stream involves one of several specified flagrant music uses, Twitch may also issue a warning or penalty depending on the creator’s history of that kind of music use.""

I would personally suggest anyone not to use external music during streams. Alghoritm will be smarter and more sophisticated in detecting licensed music even during live streams not just in highlights and VoD.

Just use only videogames music instead of singers/artists.

I'm always streaming with music and have 0 warnings. I have a folder with tons of games music only and some few non-games but that I'm sure cause no problem. I can share it if you like.
