Question about PAL?
Doing a backwards jump to get from 0 to walking speed is slower than just holding B+R, because you stay in the air for too long and you can't accelerate past walking speed until you land. But after you accelerate past walking speed, doing a backwards jump to get up to full running speed would still save a little bit of time, just like in NTSC.
