Some questions...

Hey

I've done a couple of stratless runs of this game, but would like to know how you do a couple of things so that I can incorporate them into the run... (any timestamps I mention are referring to the 2nd place run (), as I watched that because the WR is muted...)

  1. Whats going on in "Safehouse"? Whats the trigger for the interrogation cutscene?

  2. How do you pull off the trick where you climb onto the first building at the start of "All Ghillied Up"? Would I be correct in guessing that your trying to find a "sweet spot" of some sort?

  3. When carrying McMillan through the city in "One Shot, One Kill" is there a consistent way of doing this? At 1:12.20, it looks like your skipping the spots that trigger enemies to spawn? (I did realise very quickly however that on recruit difficulty, they scale down the enemy AI to hilariouslyly dumb levels here.)

  4. How are you doing the inifinite running/jumping thing?

  5. Anything else you think I should know that I might not have noticed, or would not be immidiately visible just watching the run?

Thanks

Hey Charlie I see you referenced my run :D

  1. In Safehouse I initially did it slowly, clearing out every building but then I watched other runs and realised you can just skip a lot of the mission by going straight up the hill to the farm, killing people there and then going back down to the big house, for some reason on my current 2nd place run price and the other AI friendlies stood still until the chopper went away/I went up to them which was annoying because usually they just go straight to the house while the chopper is shooting. Doing other runs of that level I don't even think you need to use the chopper at the end but when I did that one time Price took a long time running around the whole house so it's a bit weird.

  2. The trick is an elevator which is hard to explain. I just watched other people do it and googled around. this video was the most helpful but you'll need to practice the level yourself to get a hang of it. Basically you bind a key to strafe which allows you to slowly slide sideways, you crouch and strafe at an angle so that you wedge yourself underneath the overhang of the roof and then slide back the other way until the game lets you uncrouch again. You need to find the sweet spot just between where the game blocks you from uncrouching and where it allows you to uncrouch and if you press your crouch key on that spot it will lift you onto the roof.

  3. For One Shot One Kill I just copied a route that I saw the number 1 run take since it's the quickest and does seem to skip enemies spawning. In this mission you don't have to worry at all about enemies killing you since they're terrible like you said on recruit. The only part is when you go through the last apartment a few dogs spawn and occasionally an enemy soldier too, if the soldier spawns you need to be careful he doesn't hit you, otherwise try to avoid the dogs latching onto you by turning corners quickly, sometimes one dog follows you out towards the swimming pool which is annoying because he'll keep biting you until you die so you'll have to put McMillan down and kill the dog if you don't want to have to respawn.

  4. I ran Modern Warfare 2 before I started with this and there's a guide by Twiggy on there http://www.speedrun.com/mw2/guide/2cnkt go about 2 mins into the VOD and he shows how to do it. Basically you hold Shift and W to run forward, then you turn diagonally with your mouse before jumping and holding either the A or D key. If you look back to the right, you then press the jump button while holding A, and if you look back to the left you press the jump button while holding D.

  5. I'm still running this game trying to beat the WR and one thing I didn't know about when I made the current 2nd place run was a skip in One Shot One Kill. At the end of the level when you put McMillan down you have to shoot the 2 patrolling guards for the next bit of dialogue to play, once you kill them and the dialogue starts playing if you quickly run out to the right up to a bathtub (at least that's what I think it is) with a black rim, McMillan will say "Leftenant Price don't get too far ahead" this glitches the game so that you can now pick up Mc Millan and then when the helicopter gets near you can pick him up and get to the helicopter way before the game would normally allow you. Go to 1:13:08 in All Powerful's video to see him do it

Another thing is on the level War Pig I don't know if the way All Powerful and other people do it is quicker (not RPGing the choppers at the beginning and hanging back to kill people near the end). I just like doing it my way because it's never failed since that level is prone to soft locking if you go too fast.

Edit: Just did some tests and the other way does seem quicker so I'd just watch what All Poweful does, he has another video on his YouTube just for that level too.

If you have any more questions hit me up wherever. I want to beat the WR or at least set a new PB but I've been thinking about making a guide for this if/when I'm done where I'll be able to go into more detail. :)
