I have talked to some people about this idea, and we agreed it was worth bringing this up as a suggestion to the community.

Since nobody likes dealing with the Guest House portion of the game (I am so sick of walking behind Mia), I came up with the idea of creating a save file that begins at the first save room (right after the hatch key). I could reset the timer to 0 as well, and add a trigger for this category in the autosplitter to start there.

What are your thoughts? Would you be interested in a meme category like this?

I would love this. RE7 was my first proper speedrun game after I failed to git gud at Undertale, but one of the things that did deter me from wanting to better my time was Guest House. This idea of a category might rekindle my love for the game enough to want to go back and run Any% after perfecting the rest of the game,

Another problem that might arise from this suggestion. Seems like this’ll only be for PC, correct? If it is, then damn we console runners are unfortunate as hell

Xbox Play Anywhere could use the save file. But otherwise, yeah, that's kinda one of the perks of PC gaming. Mods etc. Been that way for awhile, to be fair :P

I was able to hack a save file's time to 0:00 and Dust tested it for me and it worked for him. So basically, this can be done, at least on Xbox One and PC.

Ball is in your court now, mods, I've pinged and asked for input and been met with silence so far. :P

My thoughts on it at the moment are this. If this were to become a category, it should only be for PC and the Xbox one if the save file sync's like we expect it will on the Xbox One. I know this leaves PS4 runners out, but it isn't the first time a RE game has a platform specific skip. (Referring to the door skip on REmake)

I want to get some more opinions from others in the community. If we have enough people say they want to run this I'll support it. If we make it, I think it should be a misc category though.I'll make an @everyone in discord to get some attention to this post.

It would be interesting, would force IGT math though for final times, it would also make Madhouse infinitely more accessible

KeiThuzad, I hacked the IGT to be 0 on this save file in question. So no math required.

I would personnally love this to happen, I feel like the guest house is only a matter of seconds in difference between runners so this would definitely improve and make the game more enjoyable to speedrun, more competitive as a lot of "luck" is involved (so much resets happen in this part) and way less frustrating

We would skip ~20 minutes of the run for the easy category, 14 of which are cutscene or "following Mia" like part, there is only room for 6 minutes of real gameplay in this.

So I completely agree to this idea of a new category

My thoughts on this have always been the same. Guest house is a part of the run and skipping it is not really completing the game. I know the majority of runners don't like it, but that's how it is. Therefore, I would gladly throw this under a Misc. category. Not a main one though.
