Moderator request

I would like to be a moderator for this game. I am aware there are already a lot of moderators, but it seems most are quite inactive. It took me more than a week for my 21:05 to get verified, so I was thinking another moderator couldn't hurt, especially if they log in to speedrun.com every day for multiple reasons. I also have experience moderating other games, specifically the Fortnite leaderboards. So I already know all the rules and the basics and how to retime and verify runs and all that. When I say I want to be a moderator, I do mean a actual moderator, like the green sword moderator, (I don't want/need super mod,) but if that is not possible, then I will very much take a verifier position. Thank you for considering this, and I wish you all a great rest of your day.

there's a 3 week limit for having your run verified and ALSO you still probably don't have enough knowledge to verify runs, not to say that you're bad or that i'm knowledgeable cuz idk much about this game either but you need to know how the game's physics work and how the game itself works in order to verify runs properly, although i think the mods for this game can help you with that!

also, if you do a great job as a verifier that'd greatly benefit the community due to runs being verified a bit faster, but quality over speed is prolly a better approach

I'm not sure why you specifically say you'd like to be a moderator vs. a verifier, given that the bottleneck is verification, not moderation. I'm open to adding new verifiers, because most of the time it's just me verifying runs, unless I specifically ask the other moderators / verifiers to do so. In my experience, however, most people that get 'promoted' end up verifying runs for a few weeks, then lose interest after a while. It is a tedious task and most of the time quite thankless, given people mostly just call you out for how long it takes to verify their runs. I don't see any problem with a less experienced player verifying runs, most of the time you just need to make sure people are following the category rules. But I would feel uncomfortable letting a new player verify top-level runs. I'm glad you're interested in verifying runs, I agree that the current average verification time is way too long. The two questions I have, related to the points I mentioned above, are: Would you be willing to verify runs for longer than just a few weeks? Or would you lose interest if / when you yourself stop running the game? Would you be comfortable only verifying "lower-level" runs, as in runs that aren't close to WR? (That's most of the submissions we get anyway, so it doesn't change much.)

In the meantime, I've added two new people to the verification team. Both are long-time trusted members of the community. Hopefully we'll be able to keep verification times lower, but if it remains a problem I will get back to your request.

Hey, sorry I took so long to reply. I thought I'd get a notification when someone replied to this, but I guess not. Anyways, to answer the first question, as I said earlier, I have experience moderating, and I enjoy verifying runs, one reason being that it gives me an excuse to watch speedruns of games I enjoy. Even if I'm not very active running this game, I doubt I'll lose interest and just stop. To answer the second question, yeah that's fine. I'll probably just leave anything that would be, say top 15 or top 20 to someone more experienced than me, unless you have other plans ig.
