Setting up N64 Capture with GV-USB2

I have looked up various ways to record N64 gameplay, and they all say to buy 3 separate 2 female to 1 male splitters. What I don't understand is why I don't just buy 2 male to 1 female splitters, and plugging in one set of cables to my crt, and the other set into the GV-USB2, which would then go into my computer. Does this combination of cables work? To my understanding if I used 2 female to 1 male splitters, I would also have to buy male to male cables to run gameplay to my CRT as well, can that not be skipped by just buying a 2 male to 1 female splitter? I am genuinely very confused and any clarification on this subject would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

you need 1 of the splitters plugged into the yellow cable of the gv-usb2. then the yellow N64 cable goes into one plug on the splitter and then another set of composite cables plugs into the remaining GV-USB2 plugs and the yellow one goes into the other yellow one. then in OBS, you listen to the sound that the cap card is producing so you dont need more splitters
