Disclaimer: Sorry if this is a bad idea, most of my ideas are anyways so sorry in advance

Category idea: recent tab level speedruns

How this would work: It’s basically just completing either 5 or 10 recent tab levels as fast as possible Timing issues: load times are different for different devices, so the timer would have to be paused in between levels (extremely annoying) but I think this is already done with completing 5/10 rated levels/demons (probably to compensate for load times) Also no, if you fail a speedrun, I’m sorry, but you will have to reload the recent tab. yes I know this is pretty much like Endless Mode grinding in SMM2 (which I hope my 13:59.46 for Endless mode (easy) gets verified), but still, nonetheless, I think it’s a good category.

Please give me feedback on this, any and all feedback is accepted.

To be honest this would be cool but it’s just way too luck based to really be a viable category. Maybe like 25 or 50 levels or something to reduce the chances of just 10 empty levels but even then it’s still got the same issue.

@JarmezGD It’s also the same problem with Endless Mode speedruns in SMM2 (I have one successfully completed run for Easy mode, not that I’ve tried speedrunning any other difficulty but still I guess I see your point still.

Edit 1: in addition to your point for it being luck based, people legit GRIND speedruns for SMM2 Endless Mode speedruns for pretty much months at a time just to get a PB

Edit 2: Also, with 25/50 recent tab levels, if you fail a speedrun, then you basically have to spend more time reloading the recent tab than you would if it was only say 5/10 levels, but I guess 25/50 would make sure that the WR never gets under say 2 or 3 min, however, this would make the number of resets much, much higher, statistically speaking. Compromise: subcategories for 10, 15, and 20 levels.

Just to let you know, the timer isn’t paused between levels in the 5/10 Demons run.

@Walgrey thanks for reminding me I really don’t look at the rules and don’t have a speedrun in that category so I guess I only have myself to blame tbh

Edit 1: I might’ve been thinking about full level runs but still I can’t believe that I didn’t fact-check before posting tbh

Edit 2: no wait I don’t think full level runs pause between levels that might just be the timing without loads tbh

The category might work if you had to filter by short medium long or xl to have almost no empty levels. There could be subcategories for the lengths too.

@JarmezGD also for either both 1&2p or just 2 player tbh
