Looking for good horror game speedruns, preferably under 45 minutes.
The new blair witch game is pretty decent for a horror game.. speaking of which a long time ago I forget the year they had 3 older blair witch games. Monstrum is a horror game and don't go into the woods is another. Call of Cthulhu 2018 but that games about an hour long.
https://www.speedrun.com/user/maxylobes knows a thing or two about horror games, maybe you could send him a message
@xenkaroshi You can "link" a user by writing "@" followed by the user name.
im aware, I chose actively not to. I personally don't have notifications turned on for getting mentions in forum threads, I can't speak for what others have. Therefore I figured it'd be better if he contacted by message. It's just by cheer luck that I chose to check this thread again that I noticed your message
Anyway, I personally like to get away from horror games because I get spooked quite easily, and I also despise jumpscares. But I don't mind watching let's-plays or speedruns of them.
The one game that impressed me most is Amnesia: The Dark Descent. Glitchless runs can go under 45 minutes, while manipulating the monster at some points to progress easier without dying. Glitched speedruns are faster and involve a lot of out-of-bounds stuff, and it's really amusing watching the monsters trying to get you while you are above the ceiling or outside the walls.
oh it links to ones profile too, guess that still is the best alternative regardless then : )
@maxylobes, @AnEternalEnigma, @Ravenhart, @Bawkbasoup, and @Punchy are all horror speedrunners that I'd recommend checking out and seeing if any of the games they run are what you're looking for. They've all got social media presences and Twitter is an easy place to reach most of them. You can find that info on their Twitch pages. You can also check out Painticus on YouTube (he streams on Twitch, but not often) as he reviews and dissects horror games and most of what he covers are very short experiences. He's not a speedrunner, though.
Check out each of those runner's times here and you can get a feel for how long the runs will be once you get proficient. The first 3 Silent Hill games are all within the 45 minute time that you're looking for.
as far as I know there is an Indie Horror Speedruns discord server if you are interested in the horror theme https://discord.gg/PwMES797Qz
