Grand Prix mode

Hi guys,

I did a (really poor) first run at Grand Prix mode today, just on Rookie difficulty.

Per the rules I had the race length set to 4 laps, but there's a few other options that we should probably decide on;

97 Events: On/Off Damage: On/Off Flags: On/Off

I had all of these set to On for my run, and my suggestion would be for all of these to be required as On in the rules - but I'm interested in your thoughts

I actually personally would prefer to have them all off, especially the flags option. Pretty frustrating to suddenly have a yellow flag pop up and get penalized for driving by an AI that you thought was moving slow just because the AI tends to do that.

I don't mind having stuff like damage on, but at that point, instead of picking some things as "on" and others as "off," it'd make more sense to just have no restrictions on the options.

Happy with flags off

I'd like to keep 97 events on, keeps some varience in conditions, but not full random Think that damage should be on too

But I'm not admin, feel free to take my opinion with a grain of salt. just wanted to start the conversation

Damage should stay on as for the 97 events (so everyone will have the same meteo condition. For the flags, could only be fair to take them out although you don't get penalize on the first 2 offense of a yellow flag and races are 4 laps, so not that much an issue.

To summarise;

Flags: Off Damage: On 97 Events: On

Sounds good to me.

Sounds good to me as well. Also afaik setting the weather to "random" isn't actually random, it does the same sequence of weather events every race.

Good thing about no flags is we can go really aggressive on corner cutting - no warning flags. That will be fun to test the limits on.

For timing start/stop, should we start this from file select (same as Challenge). Stop on the last menu input before the podium ceremony?

Québec

I think the time should start on the first race and menuing should not be take into account of the time, For the flag, we could do a skip (no flag) and no skip (with flag). That way we will have 2 different category that will not penalyse someone whio try to stay on track and let players who want to cut corner do so.

For timing stop is as soon it's fade black for podium ceremony

Right now, I have it set up so that timing starts when you press "start" to exit out of the last grand prix menu, right before the "round 1 australia" cutscene shows up. Timing ends as soon as the podium ceremony is visible (makes it easier to hit your splits button accurately). I think that should work.

Regarding separate categories for skips and no skips... maybe if someone does a no skips run we can add it, but I feel like we have enough categories on the board already.

All makes sense to me, and completely agree we've got enough full game categories for the moment

All my runs are no skip/with flags

Professional and Champion difficulties still have the trigger points for the spins that occur when you get the "They've given you a warning flag" on the radio - so they'll effectively be no skips even with flags off.

Do you have any thoughts on allowing the Gold/Silver drivers? The game is pretty broken when using the Gold driver, given you can get over 600 kph.

They shouldn't be allowed or they could have their own category like ''All race - extreme team''
