I have watched a couple videos of bad games from the Amstrad CPC of some of the worst games on the system and several of them are not finishable. If I wanted to speedrun these types of games, would it be possible to get a gamepage? Would time end at the point when the game crashes perhaps?
- Airwolf - Glitch with the timer prevents you from ever being able to finish since you explode at 11:11 seconds, and the game also crashes if you get to the final room.
- Death Kick - game is not finishable, glitches on fighting enemy a couple screens left.
Just create a category with a goal that is actually obtainable. If SRC would accept it, no clue
I'd say just use the closest you can get to the end of the game. That being said, you're the one that actually wants to run the game, so you can define whatever arbitrary end point you want. Assuming the games are otherwise acceptable, I don't think not being able to finish the game would be an issue (maybe just make a note of it in your game submission).
Ok cool the responses were more positive than I was thinking they would be. Obtainable goals are good for sure, with the game request I will submit a video too of what it should entail along with notes. That was it is obtainable and clear what should be expected. I will be taking a shot those this week sometime. If src does not accept them then they will still be on my channel in any case once I get those down. Thanks.
@Lieutenant_Boo Wow that Llama game has...character. I was actually thinking of doing a text based adventure game at one point and that may be what I am looking for.
Like Komrade said, all you gotta do is find a goal that you can speedrun with. For example, you can not legit complete one of the worst games ever, Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing, due to some of the worst programming and glitches ever, yet it has a leaderboard for speedrunning certain goals. There are also a lot of arcade games out there which a goal is to speedrunning to a certain score.
