Why aren't Game Boy (+Pocket), Super Game Boy 2, and Game Boy Player Accepted

My run was on GameBoy Player.

I think the reason behind this is that certain people define "platform" differently than others.

You can see it as literally which release of the game you're playing (many games were released on ps1+n64+dreamcast, then other games on ps2+gc+xbox, etc). Or it can be seen in terms of exactly what you played on. I believe originally when leaderboards were being set up, the platform options weren't as vast and open as they are now, and the former option was chosen in a lot of cases. I think now, it's generally agreed that the latter option is what's meant to be used, as there are some platforms that actually have no games, and are only a vessel to play other platform's games on.

Because people are lazy (I'm joking).

I manually added them just now. SGB is the only one not listed because of timing issues with it and converting the times are a pain, though a regular mod can add it if they really wish to but I don't believe anyone has timed it, so that prevents that issue with people submitting under that platform tag. (SGB2 is added since it fixes that issue).

GBC is listed because of its backwards compatibility so I would assume people just felt it might as well had been GB as well, I don't think GB games take advantage of the GBC hardware. I could be wrong but since its still official support by Nintendo, its acceptable to still track it. Also Gameboy Pocket is the same as the Gameboy, it's simply redesigned.

Now as to why they weren't ever actually added, I think no one really honestly thought about it. I looked at the auditlog but since it was so long ago when the board was setup those auditlogs are lost so its possible that if the board was made a very long time ago, those platforms may not had been an option quiet yet and by the time they were added, no one considered it.

But generally, if the game can be officially (Keyword here is officially, 3rd party hardware is not counted) played on another console/handheld/VC then a platform for it gets added unless there is some reason its kept off like SGB1s case.

Looking forward to it, most of the Wario runners are in the discord (WL1 is one of the least active but there are people who know much more about it than I do as I've only ever touched glitchless for the game awhile back) so if you ever need information or advise, people there can help.

I still apologize for the lack of platforms, but its nice someone caught it now instead of possibility never since even I didn't realize it.

Just wanna add this: SGB1 runs have always been acceptable, too. It's common practice in the GB community to just convert the times according to https://kb.speeddemosarchive.com/Super_Game_Boy_timing If you don't want to convert the times manually, there's a neat web converter provided by Nudua: http://nudua.com/convert

Just hit us up on the discord if you‘re into running this game (or other wario games). Guess we can help you with every question :)

Just what Oh_DeeR said: SGB is fine as long as you convert your times.
