I believe someone already routed this and found its not nearly as much of a difference as you'd think, I could be wrong tho, but I seem to remember lambo saying something like that.

I had an idea for "Camera Shy"%, where you have to get the achievement of dismounting all 33 cameras as fast as possible

That will not be a category for some reasons:

  • First of all your request is not even close to what is needs to be, it is explained on this thread: https://www.speedrun.com/portal_category_extensions/thread/zzd25 .
  • Second of all, it is almost exactly as "Transmissionshy" but with one or two potential different routes since most of the routes only diverse in one or two portal shots with the escapes as an exception.
  • A video showing the category might make it more likely to be debated since you show that you have put some effort into it.
  • You have not given any explanation whatsoever on why should the category be added even though "Transmissionshy" is already a thing.

Said this, if you still want to request it as its own category, please redo the submission as pointed above and maybe we will see if it is worth. We really do not want to overflow the category extensions since there already are way too many.

A cat in portal 1 that I’ve been running alongside some friends recently is rly fun. I call it Challenge mode all golds plus advanced chambers or CM all golds + AC for short. It’s basically what it says on the tin, it’s a run of all advanced chambers, plus achieving gold medals on All maps on all three challenge modes. I run the cat as inbounds no SLA but adding oob and inbounds sla would be okay too. My Pb:

Category Extension: All Main Triggers Rules: Beat the game. The player must Hit all triggers that cause something to move during normal gameplay (i.e. buttons, orb catchers and look triggers causing platforms, walls, and cube droppers to move). All Oob tricks are allowed and triggers are allowed to be hit from out of bounds. All softlock triggers, audio triggers, clickable doors (such as the ones in e01) and reverse level triggers are excluded. I would like to see All Main Triggers

Advanced Chambers, ILs and doing all of them. Yes, there is a All Bonus Maps category, but honestly it's a bit too varied and weird. The only problem would be you'd need a mod to take you from one chamber to the next, but that shouldn't be too hard. I'd say Glitchless is the best category for it, since you have to really explore the chamber (a lot of glitches would surpass new content), so that would probably be the ruleset, or mayyybbbee Inbounds. trash but yeah.

ILs for Advanced Chambers already exist on the main leaderboards.

As for a run with all of them, that would be roughly 5 minutes consisting of just 6 maps, half of which are very similar to their normal versions. Doesn't really need its own leaderboard in my opinion.

Okay so this is my "shitty" submission for a new category called Ball% or Pellet Juggle.

The idea is that you get the pellet from cahmber 19 all the way to the lair or GLaDOS.

The run is supposed to be done inbounds and glithcless to keep with the idea of moving withing the physical limitations. So oob and glitches are against the rules. Also quicksaving and loading is permitted since some sections have run killing potential and benefit from the saving option.

BEFORE watching this video I would like to mention that I am in no way, shape or form a Portal speedrunner so all I do and say is to be taken with a grain a salt. Also I didnt sleep for a day so I was tired and malding but just wanted to get this video done.

I appreciate any support in imporving and would be very excited to see this version of the final level run this special way.

Yeah, what would be considered a 'skip'? If it's just don't miss any elevator, then that's pretty much just inbounds/glitchless

Whilst I do like the "Ball juggle" concept and I might try it at some point, there is a couple inconveniences that I will now point out:

First of all, the run is around 85% the exact same as a regular run of the main categories, which would go against one of the rules of the request; and starting from chamber 19 would be not suitable for a formal category, since an official save would have to be made and it would be extremely inconvenient for timing and starting the run.

Second of all, the ruleset requested "Glitchless/Inbounds" is not correct, Inbounds is what we assume allowing the use of any glitches that do not exceed the map or "Inbounds space", this one is split in two depending on the allowage of save and loading. This means that Glitchess will always be Inbounds.

Thirdly, I do not know how the community would embrace this category, judging by the fact the run depends a lot on rng due to the randomness of the ball bouncing after being pushed, in a game that is almost 100% skill, this would reduce the amount of people that play the category drastically, and it being a category extension would probably be one player or none, and we do not want that to happen.

Lastly, the end is incredibly hard to time and some adjustments to the rulset might be needed, such as having to kill glados to end the game or perhaps getting the orb in the incinerator.

BeanCrash% When in e02 you go up to the parking lot (noclip would be allowed only in e02) there's a can of beans there that crashes the game if you stand on it. The goal would be to get the game crashed with this can of beans. That's about it.
