Hi, this game looks interesting. Where do I start?

Hey, I don't run this game at all hence why I just thought I'd ask a few questions. This and Battle For Bikini Bottom look like great platformers (in a speedrunning and casual sense) so I thought I'd try one of them out. I know that 'Battle For Bikini Bottom' runs like shit on a 360 but according to the big Wiki list of compatible games this game's only problem is: "Sometimes, trailers echo." I was just wondering if this is true and if the game is runnable on 360 at all?

Another question is I live in a PAL territory so getting an NTSC copy of anything is more than annoying. Does the game, for a fact, run at 50hz on the PAL copy? If so I'll have to figure out how to softmod an Xbox for running imports.

Thanks for reading and happy running!

I'll answer the first question: First of all, BFBB runs aren't like shit in X360, I don't know where you heard that. Second of all, yes, the game can be runned on X360 with an original Xbox copy of the game (thanks to the backwards compatibility).

An additional note for you is that unlike BfBB, TSSM doesn't have a difference (or if one, very minimal) in regards of loading times. I run on 360 and I'd like to think I'm alright at the game.

360 works fine for speedrunning both games. It's just that they have bad graphical glitches.

360 will lose you 40-50 seconds in BFBB due to loading screens but the controller is much nicer for frame-perfect executions and rarely drops inputs. OG controller, as you may imagine, is the other way around. The PAL version of BFBB makes a critical trick in the Any% run extremely difficult so many choose to work around it and lose time to that as well. This trick (Goo Lagoon sponge-glide) isn't in the 200%, Cheat%, (advanced) Robo-Sandy RTA or No CB/SG runs and can easily be worked around in Early Powers.

360 for TSSM is only slightly slower than OG and PAL has no known differences. Unlike BFBB, this game doesn't have many frame-perfect tricks especially for beginners. Probably the better choice if it's your first Sponge game and want equal footing with the NTSC runners.

Side note: you should contact a runner names Alex97 if you're interested in playing NTSC for either game. He's gone through the whole process of buying the tools and setting up required for converting to 60Hz.

Side note: BFBB and TSSM both have the texture glitch issues on 360. A lot of games do and this isn't a performance issue.

Since you live in the PAL region, the game is only playable on PAL50. Trying to play on PAL60 will come up with an error message. Running on PAL for TSSM is no different than running on NTSC though so you're fine with that. For this game, running on 360 is veeeeery slightly slower than OG, but it's probably by somewhere around half a second so it's nothing to worry about. Running on 360 however does cause texture glitches, but the only place where this could screw you up is during 3m skip as the different texture might be distracting, but if it doesn't distract you then you'll be fine. Also i'm not really sure what you mean by "trailers echo", but whatever it is it's nothing to worry about because BFBB runs fine on 360 (however it's roughly 40 seconds slower due to loads). On PAL BFBB though spongeglide is much harder, so that's something to consider. For any more questions, join the SpongeBob discord: https://discord.gg/MtjYsG . It's a useful resource. See you there! :)

Thanks for all the advice. Will be picking up an OG Xbox, later this year, and this game as well as a copy of Conker: Live and Reloaded. Maybe Blinx The Timesweeper too. Who knew the Xbox had some nifty looking platformers...
