Lets get running

Hey Guys I'm snoozingslowpoke a video game collector and achievement hunter at heart. Been a long time fan of speedrunninng (specially AGDQ) but I never had the motivation to actually start running some games myself. Well that is all changing today (first step this post) had a long hard thought about what games I wanna run and which games I'm actually good at. So I came to the conclusion that those games would be Mario Kart and Zelda. Already started practicing with MK8 Deluxe, even bought a capture card for it to submit proof. I really hope to get along with all of you guys since this looks like an awesome community. Also if you guys have some more suggestions as of what games are really fun to run as a first timer I would really like to hear it.

As for somthing else. I heard that speedrun.com also gets a highscore section? Is this already live or is it a work in progress? Since I have a few highscores on cyberscore I would like to submit over here if that is possible.

If you guys got any further questions about me I would gladly answer them.

Welcome to the forums buddy! The highscores section is still a work in progress to the best of my knowledge.

As for games to run if you're starting out, the easy answer is whatever you enjoy! I, however, would love to have you compete with us in Street Fighter II Gameboy ( www.speedrun.com/sf2gb ) and Kirby's Dream Land ( www.speedrun.com/kdl ). Welcome again, and good luck!

Thank you so much. Oh man I love Kirby and would gladly join the Dream Land community. Yeah Mk8 Deluxe and Kirby it is then. Is there also a discord I can join? I would gladly join if there is. Sure knows that I could use the help from all the people there haha.

How's it going? :)

If you are looking for games in the point and click genre that are simple, I'd highly suggest checking out my profile. If you'd like games in the same genre but are challenging, I'd say look at this guy! https://www.speedrun.com/user/plankboii You can also look at popular games to run at this link! https://www.speedrun.com/games#sorting=activePlayers&direction_sort=on

SRC is considering making boards of high scores just like Twin Galaxies but without the corrupted people in command. SeemsGood I don't believe we are certain how that'll be done yet. Take what I say with a grain of salt but I believe they'll be making a separate domain for that? If you are really interested you can read here! https://www.speedrun.com/The_Site/thread/1gbee

Hope you have fun and I'll see ya around!

@YoniArousement Oh really I never knew that. Have to say my Knowledge of fighting game is pretty lackluster. Only played the more well known titles on the big systems and only gotten into Super Smash and Skull girls. Kirby on the other hand I always loved. Collected every Kirby (japanese version) game on the Gamboy.

@chryoyo Everything is well, how about yourself? Really? I never associated point and click games with speed running. That is awesome. I checked out some of your videos. Have to say I never imagined you could play those game that quick. Really cool.

When you get right down to it a speedrun is nothing more than looking through code for exploits and then doing precise inputs in order soooo. Yeah, literally any game can be ran. Due to the point and click genre usually being made by new or smaller developers with a small fanbase, they include a lot of glitches. You'd be surprised what you could find.

if you are watching me, you are seeing a very unskilled player :P I've never had interest in improving. I just run to do it and have fun. I consider this place my home and the members my family. That's all I really want and I'll ever need. Who knows though, maybe at some point I'll really get into it. My true passion on this site comes from moderation though. I enjoy setting up boards and rules and talking with the community as well the game devs.

@YoniArousement Melee and smash for wiiu has to be my two favorites Melee for all the same reasons you posted. I have a hard time going back to smash 64 it feels a bit outdated (sorry to the people who still love that game). I never played Canvas Curse because I never saw it as one of the main games. But I wanna try it out Return to Dream Land is really solid in my opinion. The big power ups they added was real fun to use even if those had limited use. I can highly recommend Planet Robobot. It's one of the best Kirby games released with all new power-ups improvement over the older once.

@chryoyo Basically yeah just look at all the (J)RPG speedruns out there. Well still maybe you don't wanna improve but it was still fun to see putput being cleared in like 5 minutes. It was entertaining.
