Load Warp troubles

I started running Skyrim a few days ago and my only problem is the load warps. I can never start a decent run because it takes me forever, is there a setup I should do?

Every speedrunner have own setup. I am trying to make a hard save as close as possible. When I am on the good spot, press W and 'immediately after' ESC. When I fail first and second attempt I reset run. Not because of few seconds lost but because I know my spot is bad and I will have same troubles with Esbern-loadwarp. Quicksave before an loadwarp attempt might help because it slows game a little bit. My fps counter drop from 60 to 30 fsp just because of qs.

There is tutorial by Chops:

Thanks, I knew how to do it, I just wondered if there was a certain setup but if I have to figure it out that's fine. Hopefully quick saving to lower the fps will help though :D

I find that playing on low textures makes it easier to see patterns on the ground to set up the load warp, but that's just me. There's no specific setup you have to do, just find something to look at so you do it the same way every time. Most people set it up very close to the load zone like doctor.

Usually what happens is the menu comes up for a split second, then the load screen starts. Does this mean anything or am I just pressing Esc a bit late?

I've been trying for a while and I can't even get the first load warp once and I don't know what to do because I enjoy the rest of the run

If the menu shows up and disappears then you tapped Escape too EARLY, not too late(or stood too far from the loading zone if you want a faster timing).

Like, very, very slightly early. It's a matter of frames.

Thanks, I'll try it

Great advice, I can do it quite consistently now, thanks guys

If anyone else is having trouble I found that I can't do it with my monitor set to 75 Hertz but got it first try at 60 hertz I think it has to do with Skyrim running at 60 FPS instead of 75

I have found that if you are having the issue where the menu pops up, closes, then the next area loads, if you press E during the time that the menu pops up, you should open the save menu. At least for me, doing this drastically increased the likelihood that the load warp menu would open.

Good find Noel, I suppose that menuing forces the game to stay in the menu. That also explains why it seems more consistent to hold down w instead of tapping it.
