Hi there, new to speedrunning, just started with Fallout 4. I've been learning the current route that tomatoanus has posted and came across a weird issue with the Railroad dialog.

Once you warp into the Railroad entrance and have your first encounter with Desdemona and Deacon. I spam through the dialogue, and once I finish up and get the "Road to freedom" quest, I am supposed to progress the quest and talk to Deacon.

However when I talk with him, he doesn't go into his dialog of "We should meet up at so and so", he just says "We having fun yet?" and keeps walking, not initiating the dialogue.

Is this common? Did I miss a step to sequence break that section?

have you picked up Carrington's prototype and dropped it after? I think it usually happens when you forget to drop it

Yes, I made sure to drop it after grabbing. I made a hard save before that part of the sequence so when I get home later today I'm going to try it again and see if it happens again. I only ran into this issue the first time I got there, haven't tried another run yet.

Make sure you drop the prototype (this gives the Tradecraft quest), then make sure to leave the switchboard and not just load warp out. One of the quest stages that is necessary to complete is leaving the switchboard, which requires you to actually leave the switchboard through the door you entered in. If you don't do that, talking with Deacon wont progress anything.

OH THERE WE GO. I just realized that I was load-warping out, I was kind of out of it and didn't think about the punch warp that you set up at the start of the zone.
