Royal Raceway 200ccm WR skip?

Hello folks!

I have no idea if this belongs here - sorry if not, but it is impossible for me to find any guide regarding this.

About my question: the WR for N64 Royal Raceway 200ccm is shown going over a patch of grass at the sharp-right turn (the second turn on the track) close to the beginning while driftbreaking. I have tried reproducing this as it helps with having to break like a mad man in order to not go flying because the turn is so sharp, however the patch of grass always slows me down (as expected) and forcefully ends my drift. I tried multiple angles hoping that one of them would cause the curbs to send me flying over the grass patch a little so I could maintain my drift, but to no avail.

Hopefully there is a skilled time trials driver here that can help me to successfully pull this technique off.

From what I know, that’s mostly a time-trial-only strat. It’s very inconsistent to catch the right amount of grass to help you take the turn tightly, so it’s difficult to pull off in a speedrun. It doesn’t save a huge amount of time, either, so I would just do that turn normally, as awkward as it feels. If you have more questions, feel free to join the speedrunning Discord, or if you want to time trial seriously, consider joining the MKLeaderboards Discord.

you don't need to go in the grass. don't hold your drift after the first turn, let it go and start the drift again. At this point you should be able to slow yourself down far enough to make that sharp right unabated as long as you employ brake-drifting.
