want to get started learning any% glitchless and need some help

hi, i'd be interested in learning and running any% glitchless, but i'm not completely sure where to start. since the game has only a single save file that can be used at any one time and runs in quite an open way from start to finish, it seems to me like there's no easy way to learn/practice individual sections of the game. is there a better way of doing things, and/or are there any practice save files i could get my hands on which would help me in practicing individual tricks/rooms/splits better, more easily and more efficiently? thanks in advance.

To my knowledge, there are no practice saves already made, but you can create your own. The save for the game is located at C:\Users\userName\AppData\Roaming\Anodyne\Local Store#SharedObjects\Anodyne.swf

You could try messaging frenzied_coder directly, he might have practice saves as he's the only one who has really run glitchless recently.

that's interesting, when i googled where the anodyne save file was, it came up with a different location (C:\Users[USERNAME].Anodyne). it had a readme in it which talked about the save files, so i'm probably gonna go with that one.

i'll try sending frenzied_coder a message. thanks. :)

edit: having had a look at the run, i'd be pretty interested in learning 100% as well. are there any notes or practice save files for that that i could get my hands on? probably gonna weigh up which category i'd prefer to start with. thanks. :)

My 100% notes are linked in the resources section. The stuff in brackets is notation of where to go relative to where you are. (L7, D1) would mean left 7 screens, down 1.

I've put some effort into documenting stuff on the wiki http://anodyne.wikia.com/ . So far it's not very speedrunning-oriented, but i think the maps available are extremely valuable. I've got a category going for glitches in the game, where you can find some documentation of how to do glitches and where they can be useful, but it's not very thorough.

For an example map that i think is valuable, here's a map of the Nexus that shows where the invisible obstacles are: http://anodyne.wikia.com/wiki/File:NEXUS_p.png I made that map with a program that reads the level data from the game itself. That program is here, in case you'd like to hack around with it: https://github.com/thejoshwolfe/anodyne-map-scraper

And for the record, i get email notifications for this forum, so no need to send PM's on twitch :)

Your specific questions about save file location and how to change the language should be answered on the wiki somewhere, but I'm not sure where. to answer you directly, i can't figure out how to manage save states, because steam cloud sync keeps overwriting what i do, and the language can be configured in Enter, Config, Language: en. If you're in the main menu, you have to start a game to configure it; then when you start a new game it will all be in jp.

ok, then. thanks for your help. i'll check out the maps on the wiki. :)

sorry about the twitch pm, wasn't sure if you'd be notified about a forum post. good to cover all bases, though, i guess.

not sure how i missed the language change option, that was simple. thanks. steam cloud sync can be disabled by right-clicking the game in your library and looking in properties > updates, but you may have tried that already and had no success. in any case, thanks for all your help. :)
