Why no Emulator runs?

Look, I'm sorry for making this, and I'm a new runner for this game and I did a run on this games championship (normal mode), and it was on emulator. All I'm curious about is why emulators are banned for this game. Sorry for making this, I am new to speedrunning this game.

Emulators run at different speeds than the console version, making it unfair. Perhaps the question should be, why isn't there an emulator only category? I get the feeling this has probably been asked before, but I'd still be curious to see the answer. I do plan on getting an actual console again so I can run the game properly, but in the meantime I'm with you on emulator.

I suspect it is because of how optimized the game is for console, and the huge amount of categories for the game. Some games auto-hide emulator runs in the same category, but here it wouldn't make much sense given the difference in times. Making an emulator only leaderboard for all these tracks and circuits could be an absolute mess.

On the other hand, I think that having at least some form of limited emulator categories could possibly bring MORE people to move into the actual console running. There is a thread here for supporting emulator players: https://www.speedrun.com/wr64/thread/cpxhn

Just an update so y'all don't get the impression this inquiry is being ignored:

The moderators for this community (listed in the left-hand sidebar) have been discussing emulator eligibility since this came up. As of right now, we are still not accepting emulator runs for the official leaderboard. That said, we do have a thread for emu runners to post their PBs, because we absolutely do want to encourage emulator runners and help them improve and track their progress. This is something that can always be revisited in the future, of course. If we have more folks wanting to submit emulator runs (there has been very little interest in this, historically, and it had not come up in quite some time), we can re-assess the situation.

Shibbypod will probably be making a more official announcement at some point, but I figured I'd give everyone the current state of affairs while that's in the works.

Post your emulator runs in this thread: https://www.speedrun.com/wr64/thread/cpxhn

If there is interest, a spreadsheet can be created to compare and track times, as well.

This is not the only game on the site where emulators are banned on leaderboards (Diddy Kong Racing is another example).
