Me and my brother just finished a runthrough of the game using one pro controller, and I think it would be cool to put on the leaderboards. It's a really interesting idea that has been explored by a few communities, most notably the SM64 16 Star run at PACE. Even just adding a sub cat under the normal categories would work. Thanks! And sorry if this has been brought up before.
I honestly think that would be a pretty interesting category, and would involve a lot of cooperation

I only can say that to verificate that you play 2P with 1C, you need a camera recording the players.
Yeah, that's not a big deal for us personally, and its just any% (or any category for that matter) having one player control left side of controller and a second player controlling the right side. Joy cons would probably make it easier but he doesnt like the stick and i want big buttons lol, Im not sure how you wanna moderate it, but I would suggest seperating the controls based on their joy-con location, and only allow 2 hands on controller at a time.

In all case, is a great idea to do that if you have a friend to do lol :V XD. I think that Smallant1 have a video doing that with another friend lmao.
The only problema apart of the camera is that you need a friend that play Super Mario Odyssey to do that.

In my opinion, normaly is better to the best of the 2 players play with the rigth Joy-Con lmao, including to do maybe a Little bit advanced tecniques, like a posible cappy jump in a great momento (would be so cool and so nice)
yeah Im slightly more skilled at speedrunning the game than my brother, so i played right side of controller. in terms of technical skill though we are pretty equal, so we knew what to do in terms of cap bounces.
Sure the idea has been explored, but how many people do you think would run and submit? The competitive nature of 2P1C is next to none.
I mean the 2 player boards are surprisingly full, it’s not unlikely for people to want to do this when they have the chance. I’m certainly looking at doing it seriously with the aforementioned brother anyway
Like I said, the competitive nature of such a concept is close to non-existent, it is moreso a challenge. We wouldn't accept this anyway as our recent leaderboard archive of older categories had 1 of 2, or 2 of 2 reasons to be removed. This is the same as Any% with the extra challenge.

In my part, I maybe do the run someday with a friend lol, would be so cool and so nice, but the problema is to verificate that we are realy playing 2 players with 1 controller (or the same with 2 Joy-Cons lol :v), because in all case is needed to have a camera sowhing us playing, that steal you all your privacity. That can be the most problematic thing in time to do the run, maybe people would be not like to do that.
yeah hand cam is really all thats necessary, unless you and your friend have insanely similar hand size, hairiness (lol), color, etc.
Sound so easy, but dont think is so nice that of the costume. But okey, its actualy cool.
Ps: @drybloxman to start, one of my gamer friends change the color of his front part of his hair once a week, so no problema jaja XD. Now he have the hair blue :V XD.
Regardless, Tech said it wont become a thing RIP im still gonna do runs on my own though (or our own lol)
