Not sure about games, but a GV-USB2 for a capture device is something I recommend.

@whybother88 thanks for the suggestion but i have to pass, i don't like the top down shooter genre.

United States

Celeste is the game that got me into speedrunning: https://www.speedrun.com/Celeste . Casual and speedruns both are very fun. Speedrunning looks and feels amazing. Very active and populous community (currently #1 most active on this site).

Hue any% WR is 46:55, godrun is probably 45:xx. I recently did a tutorial and if you think you might want to run the game, I can get you a Steam key for it.

Russia

binding of isaac ab+ racing mod, given you actually played the game for a really long time.

this guy is kinda insane in that game, so i would recommend watching him first b4 you actually try out the run. (he speaks englando aswell)

It really depends what you like. I just started running Super Mario World and have been enjoying it, I'm practicing on SNES classic, it isn't the fastest version but is serviceable when you're just starting. There's about a million categories so it is flexible that way, and tons of videos showing the strats.

Also can't go wrong with darks souls, they're pretty popular so it shouldn't be hard to find tutorials.

Overall if you want something with a lot of info out there you want a game that's popular among speedrunners. Go through the games list on this site and sort by most active players. The first few pages will have lots of options.

Start with a game you know in and out, for me, that was SM64. It’s hard to get into a game you’ve never played before (why I’m like the only person ever to not run Celeste, although I’m thinking about it) but I’m in love with SM64, and Odyssey. Just do something you played when you were younger, and more of a casual gamer.

Scotland

I have gotten into games I have never played before it really depends on the person :) its so hard to recommend games tbh I feel >_<

Hentai Puzzle, It's just a small Community but you can learn it pretty fast. It costs 79 cents on steam.
