New any% route idea?

I was thinking about how I could make the any% run more consistent and came across an idea.

Currently, we do training fights in Zone 3 in order to grind for equipment and levels. In the best case scenario, assassins would fight Shaman of Blades for Tribal Blades and Gunslingers would fight Shaman of Life for Mender's Axes. However, this is very inconsistent as there is only a 25% chance of fighting the desired enemy each time + a 25% chance they drop the weapon, not to mention time-consuming as these enemies are difficult to kill right after Zone 2.

The idea for the assassin route is to do most of your training in the beginning of Zone 2. The training enemies all have a 5% chance of dropping Moon Shattered Horrors and are relatively easy to kill without taking too much time. If you do 5 training fights, you have a 22% chance of getting at least one MSH which will make the rest of Zone 2 much easier to finish + eliminate training in Zone 3.

The main drawback though is that the items drops in general for these fights are terrible. There's only a 30% chance that each item that's not MSH will drop, so there are plenty of fights where you get nothing from it.

I did some testing and at one point I got a 14:04 (with no recording though).

well, we would still get exp and money (which could be used to buy the katanas) so this doesnt sound bad, i will look into it later and do some test runs :D

what browser are yall using to run this version? all the ones ive found are really buggy

hello :) i cant speak for everyone else but i personally use "Flashpoint" , its not a browser but a programm where you can play almost every flash game that exists :)

there are good youtube videos about it, how to set it up etc :)

I've already done some experimenting with that and I agree that we should probably split the training between both zones. I believe, doing one training fight early in zone 2 also helps you with 1 or 2 fights but I don't recall the exact details. Plus, it doesn't actually affect your final level where you do the training. The question will be, what is the perfect distribution for training?

E: I had a quick look at my old notes and they say that you should do one training fight after stage 11 (the assassin) because doing it before assassin would mean that you do enough damage to force him into shadow blend (which you want to avoid). Now, I didn't do that much optimization so I don't know whether one fight is the right number but I am relatively sure that after stage 11 is the best time to do the training.

E2: okay, I was thinking about the any% glitchless route now but it shouldn't be much different for any% either because I don't think you will be able to eat so much stuff that you can oneshot the assassin - but okay, I am not tooo familiar with that route (because I don't like any% all that much).

I once did the math on the any% glitchless route on the XP gained from these training fights. By doing 2 training fights in zone 2, one at the start or after a lvlup and one after the assassin, and then 2 at the start of zone 3, you get some very nice XP benchmarks. Lvlup to 7 just before the Sensei, to 8 after the 2 training fights, and you also get a levelup just before Rockstar (9 if I recall correctly), just before the council (11 if I recall correctly), and one just before the Baron (12 if I recall correctly).

Edit: The reason that you'd want to spread out the training fights is because of the way XP works after a lvlup. You get a % of the next level every fight, and once you hit 100% (or more) you level up. However, this also drops the XP back down to 0%! This means that XP above 100% gets wasted. For example, after the first 2 fights in the game you'll have like 98% XP, and the next fight gives you a level up, and drops the XP back down to 0, so you'll need another 100. If you started out on training fights in zone 2 to get the same amount of XP these 2 fights give, you'd need 4(!) training fights.

Second note I just thought of: These numbers are based on Veradux leeching XP, since in glitchless he's actually useful. For any% this will be different.
