Learning the game

There was one man who was an inspiration to us all. A man that pushed this game to its limits. That crazy man was Brandon Scott motherfucking Hill. He spent over 2 years optimizing every category. He passed the torch down to someone named Capridog_. He is pretty much the only one that takes this game seriously. I would take this game seriously if I got a controller like I've been saying for the past 7 months.

tl:dr The community is pretty dead atm

  1. This is a known glitch called the blackout glitch. It definitely will happen occasionally when starting out, but when you become consistent with the proper route, it essentially never happens. When learning, it can definitely be a pain, although it's definitely more of an uncommon occurrence. It shouldn't happen all that often, but I'm sure it will show itself to you again a few times as you continue to learn

  2. After you learn it, elevator hop is actually not TOO bad. Some notes for a beginner: Practice and make sure you can get the timing for going up/down the elevators correctly, as this is by far the most important part of the level. Remember not to activate the elevators with the buttons until AFTER you've gotten the rat on the ceiling in that room. Then when you jump down to get the rat on the wall, if you miss it first try, you can come back to it later. This way if you miss the wall rat, you don't have to mess up your elevator cycles. Just note which elevator platform colors you should be hopping on to make it easier (yellow on the left, blue on the right, purple on the left to the rat to purple on the right), you actually can get up quite fast with the proper route. Another note for beginners: Don't worry about grabbing the coin from the spider boss. It's FAR more important that you grab the token during the cutscene, because if you don't you will have to wait for the elevators to go down then up before you can get into the token race. Elevator Hop actually is one of the most flexible levels as far as coins are concerned, so there are plenty of backups you can get, including practicing getting all the coins during that token race.

P.S. I don't really run the game too much anymore, but I was the one that basically entirely routed 30 and 40 token (even though my actual runs for both categories are trash lol), and I'm definitely around. I try to check this leaderboard/forum about once a day, so I can help answer questions as well.

This thread is fine if you want to continue posting questions here. For the beginning jumps, take it slow. Once you get on the last dumbbell-thingy, take your time to turn around and jump carefully. For the roof rat, wait until the rat stops moving before you jump, and you can also spin before you jump to slightly extend your hitbox. The wall rat is just a troll sometimes. Practice and a bit of luck is the only thing to help you there.
