Im new to Speedrunning and this site in general and I was wondering if you're still allowed to record your tv screen with your phone if you don't have access to capture cards? Or should I just wait until I can afford to get a capture card? 
I have an old busted phone I could use to time my runs if that's the biggest issue

This is still a method that is used (although not as commonly as it used to be) and is accepted in most games. If a game doesn’t accept submissions recorded using this method, it will most likely say so in the rules. You can always send a message to the game moderators with questions about what is and isn’t accepted.
