[Outdated] Skitty Route (Single Segment)

When you start the game, answer the quiz questions appropriately to get a Skitty. You need a Hasty nature as well as a female gender. This is a quiz guide made by DhrGR: http://www.bombch.us/moC . Green responses are what you always go for. Yellow responses are okay if there are no green responses. And stay away from red responses.

Tiny Woods and Thunderwave Cave:

Once you begin the first dungeon, set Tackle on Skitty, switch off Tail Whip on Squirtle, set Squirtle's AI to include Dedicated Traveler and Exclusive Move-User, and set the game speed to fast. After this, complete the dungeon as quickly as possible - do not go out of your way to pick up money or items. After this dungeon is complete, head directly to Thunderwave Cave and complete it as quickly as possible. And, if possible, try to ensure that Squirtle makes it to level 7 before the end of the dungeon.

First Visit to Pokemon Square:

Visit Gulpin and link Tail Whip+Tackle together for Skitty and link Tail Whip+Tackle+Bubble (if Squirtle is not level 7, just link Tail Whip+Tackle for now, you will need to come back to link Bubble later) for Squirtle.. Keep in mind the specific order in which moves are linked, as it does make a difference, for instance, if you use Tail Whip+Tackle and you KO the enemy in front of you, Bubble (a ranged attack) can attack the enemy behind the one you KO'd in the same turn, thus saving PP and time. Visit the bulletin board and grab all of the missions off the board, and then do two Tiny Woods missions. (If a mission says "near" xxx, you dont actually have to do anything on that floor. you just have to have the item in your inventory when you are in the dungeon. Also, if you are doing a mission on floor 2, and the last mission is a "near" mission on floor 3, you can leave the dungeon after floor 2.)

Mt. Steel:

In Mt. Steel, go out of your way for Gravelerocks if you see them and don't already have any. For the rest of the game, if you see a Link Box and don't have one already, go out of your way to grab it. Once Squirtle learns Withdraw, switch it off immediately. Complete the rest of the dungeon as quickly as possible. Against Skarmory, set the Gravelerocks, throw one Gravelerock at the start and use your linked moves, you should KO Skarmory in one turn if you don't miss.

Second Visit to Pokemon Square:

Visit the shop. Sell Ginseng and Pecha Scarf. If you see Max Elixirs or Reviver Seeds, buy them. Prioritise Reviver Seeds over Max Elixirs. Whenever you pass this shop for the rest of the game and have money, check the shop for these two items.. Visit the bulletin board and pick up 2 more Tiny Woods missions to replace the ones you just did, then talk to Wigglytuff, watch the cutscene then complete 3 missions in Thunderwave Cave. (PS. Now that you've unlocked Friend Areas, Pokemon will want to join your team. Always say no. They are Reviver Seed wasters and they will slow you down.) After that, visit the bulletin board and pick up 3 more Thunderwave Cave jobs again, and then complete two Tiny Woods missions.

Complete Sinister Woods and Silent Chasm. For the boss fight in Sinister Woods, start off by chucking Gravelerocks at Gengar, after Squirtle uses his first move on Medicham, either throw a Gravelerock at Medicham, or just basic attack it. Then, continue chucking Gravelerocks at Genar After Gengar faints, use linked moves Ekans. Starting in Silent Chasm, if you see any Power or Special bands on the ground, pick them up until you have one of each - Power Band for Skitty, Special Band for Squirtle. (Quick note. You should reach level 13 in this dungeon. When you reach level 13, you will have the option to learn Sing. Forget it. Attract is better.) After those two dungeons, check your mailbox for a 3F Mt. Steel mission, if its there, leave it. Accept it later. Then visit bulletin board and pick up jobs. You can hold on to eight jobs - the ideal composition is 3 in Mt. Steel (not including the one in the mailbox), 3 in Thunderwave Cave, and 2 in Tiny Woods.

Complete Mt. Thunder. This is the first dangerous dungeon in the game - in particular, watch out for Electabuzz, who can 2HKO with Thunderpunch and Beedrill can OHKO you with Fury Attack. At Zapdos, the strategy is to simply move forward. After the start, just use Attract then your linked moves for the rest of the battle. You should have reached level 15 by now. When you do, you'll learn the god of all broken moves, Doubleslap. Replace Growl with it. Now whenever Skitty learns a move, abandon it. You have the best moveset. Visit Gulpin and link Tail Whip+Tackle+Doubleslap. Check the bulletin board if you do not yet have the ideal job composition. Complete Great Canyon. When your partner asks whether to tickle or attack Xatu, select attack to save time.

Fugitive Segment:

There are two plot days at this point. On the first day, continue to visit the bulletin board if you still don't have the ideal job composition. On the second day, going to the town square will cost you a bit of extra time - only do so if you really need items, as you will not be able to visit the shop again until you complete four more dungeons, all of which are of decent length and two of which have lethal bosses. You will need a few Max Elixirs and two or three Reviver Seeds to be safe.

Lapis Cave is relatively non-eventful, although it is the longest dungeon yet.

The main portion of Mt. Blaze is not threatening, but Fearow on the two peak floors is extremely dangerous and can go beyond the OHKO by killing you twice in a row with one Fury Attack, wasting all of your Reviver Seeds - as such, exercise extreme caution. Against Moltres, throw a Gravelerock and use linked moves for the rest of the fight. Starting after this dungeon, keep an eye out for gummis and apples and grab them if they're close by.

Frosty Forest is another relatively uneventful dungeon. However, of the legendary bird dungeons, it has the longest post-checkpoint segment. As Articuno does have Pressure, you may need to use a Max Elixir before you take the stairs to the fifth floor to ensure that you do not run out of PP mid-fight. As with other boss fights, throw a Gravelerock to start the fight, use Attract, then use linked moves. Mt. Freeze is the only dungeon in the game where you'll have a third party member. When you get Absol, switch off his support moves and set his AI to include Dedicated Traveler and Exclusive Move-User. If you have a spare Link Box, link Absol's two physical attacks. Mt. Freeze is long and dangerous. Watch out for Pineco, which can use Self Destruct to damage you for exactly half of your HP, Swablu who can OHKO you (multiple times) with Fury Attack, and Vigoroth who can OHKO you with Fury Swipes.

Back to Rescuing:

Complete the 3 Thunderwave Cave missions. Check the bulletin board for jobs while you're there for the plot. Remember that 3F Mt. Steel mission in your mailbox? Accept it now. After this point, you want four missions in Mt. Steel and two missions in Tiny Woods. Then go to Uproar Forest. Be cautious, because this is the first dungeon to introduce Monster Houses. On the ninth floor of Uproar Forest, you will generally see one Chestnut. But very rarely, you will see 2 Chestnuts (or no Chestnuts at all.) You need two Chestnuts, so if you get what we call "double Chestnut", you don't have to do the dungeon again. It's a completely luck-based time saver. It saves at least 3 minutes if you get it. If you only find one Chestnut, you will have to do Uproar Forest again. Not a big deal. A Sub-3 Hour run is possible without it (based MBisonFute). Complete four missions, then complete two missions. While doing your shopping, if you see a Huge Apple purchase as many as you can. Once you learn Bite, link Tail Whip+Bite+Water Gun+Bubble at Gulpin's shop.

Magma Cavern:

Magma Cavern is not particularly dangerous, but it is by far the longest dungeon yet and hunger is the primary issue. If you see any TMs on the ground, you can pick them up to sell if they're not out of your way, as at this point in the game TMs can actually be valuable. Against Groudon, the standard strategy of throwing a Gravelerock, using Attract, and then spamming linked moves applies. If you're wondering why Squirtle's super-effective Water Type moves are doing nothing, it's because Sunny Day is in effect for the whole battle. Go to the shop, if you see another Huge Apple in the shop, purchase one.

Sky Tower:

Sky Tower is extremely long and dangerous. Not only is it the longest dungeon in the storyline by 10 floors, but it also has the largest floors, making each individual floor take longer. Monster houses have a 5% chance of spawning on all floors except floors 1-2. Fortunately, hunger is less of an issue than in Magma Cavern, as there are more food items lying around. If you see food items, go out of your way to grab them.

In general, the enemies are far more dangerous than they have been for the rest of the game. There are also a few specific enemies to watch out for. Shuppet can use Spite, which is extremely bad as it completely removes all PP from your linked moves, forcing you to use a Max Elixir. Shedinja has Wonder Guard, but a Gravelerock will OHKO it. Forretress can Self Destruct. Dusclops and Aerodactyl both have Pressure, which can quickly go through your linked moves PP and force you to use more Max Elixir. Aerodactyl is by far the most dangerous Pokémon in Sky Tower, as alongside Pressure, it's also durable and can 2HKO you, plus it can use Agility while its out of your range. Venomoth has Silver Wind which can be a major problem if you are in a huge room with it and you are far away from the Venomoth. You'll also need to watch out for the weather, this is the fixed pattern Rain - floor 7, Hail - floors 11, 15, 18, Cloudy - floors 12, 21, Sunny - floor 24.

At the 8th floor of the summit, when you get to the stairs, make sure you have at least 7 linked move uses for both Squirtle and Charmander. If you don't, use Max Elixirs, prioritising Skitty first. Take the stairs and fight Rayquaza. As usual, just throw a Gravelerock, use Attract, and use linked moves until Rayquaza falls.

Split is on final fade to white before credits.
