If you want to mess around with text storage, you'll need to be playing version 2.0. In order to switch from the newest steam version (2.2) to 2.0, you simply need to do the following:

1. Open up Steam
2. Right-click on "VVVVVV" and choose "Properties"
3. Click on the "BETAS" tab and select "glitchrunners" under the opt into menu
4. Close the properties box

Steam will now replace the game with version 2.0. In order to switch back to version 2.2, simply go back to the properties menu and opt out of the glitchrunners beta.
