Is it allowed to do runs on an actual GB (or in my case a GBC)? I've been playing on it a lot recently and I'd like my next run to be on there. Is the whole "webcam pointed at the screen" thing frowned upon or completely disallowed?

I'm fairly certain that's perfectly fine in the case of the GB/GBC. I don't think there have been any capture mods released for those handhelds and I also assume such a thing would make them rather cumbersome to play on.

The most I heard about this from the OG Mod, Breastickle, is that it's heavily frowned upon in the SR community as a whole. For GB, it's mostly Emulator, or Super Gameboy 2 & the one on the gamecube. Super Gameboy 1 apparently has the games run slightly faster than the original, thus would be sorta cheating in most cases.

I can see if the other mods are fine with having this being allowed though. I'm rather neutral on it.

I don't see why not, but at the same time, it could be tough to hold the Game Boy steady as you play, resulting in poor quality. The former 100 line WR on NES Tetris (now 3rd place) has a webcam pointed at a TV, but it's stationary and you can clearly see the game the whole time. That's the only thing I could think of as being an issue.

Would be fun to see the player's fingers move during a gameboy playthrough lol Sooo how about we agree it's allowed, but it must be of good quality where the entire game is displayed from beginning to end.

The video is a proof of your work done - imho if it is clear you played the run as you claim a webcam is perfectly fine.
