You want to follow the Any% Normal/Advanced Route

Once you get to EX, go to Normal Rank C. Take Shaymin off your Wiimote (if applicable) and buy it moves until it learns Swords Dance/Growth/Air Slash.

Once you have that, go to EX and complete EX 1 and 2.

After beating EX2, go into Eternal Tower with Raichu, and complete the stage until you get 2 Gengar (or more).

If the Gengar doesn't know Night Shade, go to Normal Rank C and buy it moves until it learns Night Shade.

Once Night Shade is learned, go to EX and do EX 3 and 4. Watch the World Record to see Night Shade strats in action in EX 3 and 4. It makes the category much more consistent.
