Question on Mt. Moon manip

So i've started practicing Pokemon Red recently. First i wanna learn the splits individually and for the last 3 days i was learning Mt. Moon and obviously the manip. I use the method Hwangbro used in his recent WR run and today i was able to complete it a few times without mistakes. Though without mistakes might not be the right term, i don't have any encounters on the way if i perform it correctly but the Paras at the end doesn't show up. I've done the buffering and palette change right and every A-press, movement, item buffering. What could be the mistake?

I would recommend joining the Pokemon Gen 1-3 Speedrunning Discord and asking in the "red-blue-glitchless" channel. You'll probably get faster feedback there. https://discord.gg/NjQFEkc

I totally agree - Discord is the way to go. For those reading this thread I may have two reasons why Paras won't appear:

It could be IGT0 (in-game time 0): The save before the manip determines which result you will get. Pokemon Red runs at approx. 60 fps, so you've got 60 possible frames to save on. Some - typically 1 to 5 frames, depending on the manip - are considered "bad frames". If you save on one of those the RNG manip will not work. In this case something different will happen (like not getting an encounter, getting the wrong encounter, getting a bad early encounter or yoloball not working). Manips sadly are not perfect (the Inside Mt Moon manip I know has a 55/60 chance to give the desired Paras and a 54/55 chance for yoloball), but they are really good considering their high chances to succeed.

Another thing could be textboxes from items: You have to hold A until the jingle starts playing; this caused some problems for me, too.
