Hi I want to start speedruning pokemon fire red but not entirely sure how to go about it any tips are greatly appreciated
a few tips, get all the manip programs and learn the manip, manipless is worse than doing manip over and over, learn on emu and create save states to practice, and best way to learn is get a save state that has a squirtle already and learn the run with that, also use the notes by pulseeffects here https://www.speedrun.com/pkmnfrlg/guide/7c5ds
I would strongly advise to not care much about time or routes or whatever during your first few days, just beat the game as fast as you can with a reasonable route of your own, then you can compare stuff you do with what other people do and gradually incorporate better and better (which often means harder and riskier) strats.
Hi there. bumpin this thread just wanted to ask a question. i took the above advice and got mGBA for save stating a squirtle for practice. Is Modest with 31 HP, 20 ATK, 11 DEF 30 SPA 1 SPD AND 22 SPD ok? or should i try and find one better? i ran 2:49 with it with alot of pauses to read guides and resets on deaths.
