Title says it all. I've been playing Pokemon Emerald since I was 3 years old, and I wanted to get into speedrunning. I checked the rules, and since mGBA is an accepted emulator, I'm running it on my PC. Can anybody tell me good programs for the timer, and to record? I've never done anything like this before.

The most popular program for timer (I'm assuming run timer) is LiveSplit, most common streaming software (and can be used to create recordings as well) is Open Broadcaster Software (Personally I use the OBS Studio version, don't worry, it's free).

Also, if you use Discord, I'd recommend checking out the community Discord server to ask questions and get more information about the run. The invite link should be in one of the posts in this game's forum.

It's okay. All new speedrunners ask these questions. It took me a quite a while before I knew how to use a recording software and timer. During that time, I was so dumb I didn't know how to download an program. I Couldn't figure out left from right. That's in the past though. I'll be happy to help if you need any.
