Forum: The Site Thread: Runs should appear on the main page by the time they was verified Started by: Koh1fdsKoh1fds (edited: ) |
1. A user should not be able to adjust their submission date earlier than the date on which the form was submitted. Only mods should have this ability. The user can contact the mods to adjust their submission date if they have proof it was done on an earlier date. 2. Runs should appear on the front page by submission date, not verification date. Verification date is irrelevant. The person held the record at the time they submitted it, not when some stranger decided to verify it. |

Forum: Hammerin' Harry Thread: Addition of milliseconds Started by: pip_johnsonpip_johnson |
Now that time in this game is starting to get competitive, I've decided it's time to add milliseconds to the leaderboards. As a result, this means we have a new WR holder... Congratulations to Death__Devil!! If you feel the need, feel free to resubmit your time with the milliseconds field added. This is not required, only for those who wish to more accurately reflect their time. |

Forum: Cooldog Teaches Typing Thread: Rule changes and retimed runs Started by: pip_johnsonpip_johnson (edited: ) |
Hi everyone, I've recently updated the rules for both categories and updated everyone's times accordingly. I didn't change anything too drastically, just re-worded some things and clarified others. Davis, if you want to discuss any changes I made, hit me up on twitch. |

I guess I'm a mod now. I've re-timed everybody's runs with the new rules. Congrats! |

There are a few different ways to calculate time, it depends on the community. This is a good place to discuss that. I also prefer to time with first/last input, and I think we should correct everybody's times for that instead of wherever their timer stopped (which isn't always accurate). We need the only mod of the game to chime in on this though... |

😕 I'm at work i'll check it in a bit. To be clear, I timed it not based on when I stopped the timer, but my last key press (enter). Maybe that's why |
Forum: Cooldog Teaches Typing Thread: Question about 100% Started by: pip_johnsonpip_johnson |
Yes, to elaborate, generally 100% runs involve collecting 100% of some kind of point system. The only point system in this game are calculated at the end of each level and presented. As long as it shows 0 mistakes at the end of each level, it should still be considered 100%. Think of it like playing Donkey Kong, missing a banana, and backtracking to pick it up before finishing the run. Still completed with 100% of bananas, the only penalty is time lost. |
Forum: Cooldog Teaches Typing Thread: Question about 100% Started by: pip_johnsonpip_johnson (edited: ) |
the rules read: "Must complete the game with no mistakes at all, fixed mistakes are not allowed. Put 001 for the changing number is lesson 1." But currently the only video on the board makes several typos in level 3 and uses backspaces to get a better score. Is that allowed? Personally I think it should be, I'd just like some clarification on the wording. Also could we get some clarification on the timing? The any% category timer stops at last button press, but the 100% stops at screen wipe. Which is it? |

First of all, really good work. I really don't know how to wrap my head around this one. If I'm understanding correctly, wouldn't this entirely remove the luck element from the game in terms of grabbing a seed? As this would work on any seed. I guess it's up to the mods if they want to allow that. The seeds are a recent development, and it would certainly allow for faster times, so I say go for it. Yogi already sucked the fun out of it, we might as well loot the corpse. |

Yogi discovered you should start the game ASAP to mitigate any RNG as it seems it changes as time goes on. We do this by simply buffering and mashing start. Restart the game, hold start (to buffer through the first screen), then mash start until you get to your first word. If your mashing is somewhat consistent, you should get one of ~10-15 starting seeds. You're more likely to get certain seeds when doing this. You have to guess the first word based on how many letters it has. After that, you'll know every word that comes next by following this sheet: |

Forum: Vegas Stakes (GB) Thread: How to manipulate random encounters? Started by: TheRealShyftTheRealShyft |
Selecting and quitting (or playing) the games in a certain order will give you the same random events, unlike the SNES version. So if you follow the exact route in the video, it'll take you ~9:40 to get to 100k. From that point on you actually have to play, so I recommend saving the game at 100k. |

1. I think grabbing the potion is fair, as that is what is required to end the game. You can hard lock the game if the boss is in the wrong position, putting the potion too far off screen. 2. I agree that for consistency's sake we should only allow the original rom. 3. I mean... yeah? |
Forum: Wrecking Crew Thread: Why are runs being timed different? Started by: [Deleted user] (edited: ) |
Wow dude, you accepted my time at first place and then moved it to second? People weren't kidding when they said you screwed with their runs. My timer was started .09 seconds too early and split late. The 26000 appears at 1:47.82. I have a 1:47.73. Please open it up in VLC and take a look for yourself. You are a moderator. Runners should not have to deal with this nonsense. Here is a video of me gaining control at .09: Here is a video of me getting 26000 at 1:47.82: For the love of god, suck it up, man. If you want the WR, get back to grinding and do it properly. I'm screen capping this thread because I heard you like to delete those too. |

Forum: The Site Thread: Leaderboards moderation requests thread Started by: |
Hello, I'd like to become a mod for Hammerin' Harry (NES). I was able to contact the only moderator of the game and he doesn't speedrun anymore. I'd rather not keep asking him to validate my runs as I creep the time downwards, as he's only doing it as a favor for me. I have a background and trophies I can use to spruce the page up a bit. Also, the consoles listed are incorrect as they are all totally different games. The PSP one is actually called Hammerin' Hero... |
