Lost Mountaintop to Forgotten Ruins OOB strat

I found a new OOB route from Lost Mountaintop to Forgotten Ruins which saves about 15-16 seconds compared to the old route with Rezoons' recent strategy when both are executed well (Up Down Junction dialogue pops up at 0:51-0:52 with the new strat, and I used to get 1:07-1:08 with the old strat).

The new strat doesn't get the health pickup in Forgotten Ruins. You could still get it, but I don't think the extra damage boosting makes up for the time loss (except for in all collectibles of course).

The following is a video of me doing a 1:32 pickup of the gun with the new OOB. At least 3 seconds can be saved (mostly in Forgotten Ruins). The new part is from 0:20 to 0:45 in-game time. I also added a small optimization in Jumping Over where when I make the 1:01 shot I don't land on the platform to the right before making an extra small jump, but instead just shoots to the left and makes sure to land before the shot hits.

Wow, that's amazing ghuia! This the OOB i was really hopping we could get one day. I never thought of passing it like you did. This is awesome! It's a really huge improvement for any% and any% IGT. I'm not completely sure how to use it in collectible run yet. i'll think about it and test the OOB later.

(Edit: You will now be able to get your sub 6:30 :p)

Wow!!!!! That repeat telejump at 1:32-1:34 is incredible.

And one more strat I'll never be able to implement in my runs. :'( I've been trying this for way too long and couldn't land it. GG for landing it. ;)

EDIT : spent 40 minutes on it and landed it only twice... -_-'

Wow ! Amazing ! GG ! :)

Congratulations! It is inspiring to see your early-game runs. I have been working on the Jumping Over strat, but I am still having trouble jumping late enough to make the shot in Junkyard Exit. It will be a long time before I attempt to copy you on this, but this was an amazing find! :)

So... I have tested this OOB and it's definitely more difficult that it looks like. I can currently get it about one time every ten attempts which is not enough. But, for a 15s saves it's not really the kind of strat i can skip, so... I'll have to train more to be more consistant.

About mistakes, it takes about 2~5 seconds to be able to try again to get the OOB after a fail (depending of the way we fail and get back) so we can make a few mistakes and still win some times. Luckily, since the OOB is at the very begining of the run, it's also not a big bother to just start the run again.

What is really interesting me about this is the ability to jump boost on a wall right after being teleported. Theorically, if we chain these we should be able to climb every straight wall which would be really useful. Unfortunately, from what i've tested it seems really difficult. The best thing i've managed to do so far is two in a row.

Interesting, I hadn't thought of using it like that. However I'm not sure if it works on actual walls. You can teleport to a blue beam from slightly closer to it than you can to a wall. I think to teleport to a blue beam you need to be 1 block removed from the center of the beam, but from a wall you need to be 1 block removed from the side of the wall.

I have managed to get a few triples on the blue beam (update: have now done quintuple boosts), but haven't gotten a double yet on an actual straight wall. If you manage I would love to see it. It may be possible, just very hard.

Also it seems you need a quadruple chain jump to do the skip in Double Jumping which is pretty crazy. Probably won't be in any% igt any time soon.

EDIT: This is me trying to double jump and failing:

That Quintuple is incredible. :o I wonder if you'd be able to go all the way to the top of this bluebeam and above "Double Jumping"...

Indeed, it seems to be only possible on blue beams and not on walls. I've tried a lot but to no avail so it's either impossible or REALLY difficult. Too bad. It's still a pretty neat trick on blue beams (GG for the quintuple!) but it's way less useful for the runs.

Anyway, i'm getting a little bit better at getting the OOB. It's really a matter of getting the timing of the second shot right. I can't wait to try in a run!

I'd love to be able to TAS the game just to experiment this kind of thing ; I believe in a TAS environment we could be able to do this...

Though, I tryed to TAS the game months ago using Hourglass, but I couldn't make it work with OTS... :/

Does anybody know what is in the screen above Strange Formation? It seems that using this technique, if you get an optimal GBJ with your teleshot on the far left of the beam, you could climb out of the screen. My guess is that it is just a blank screen with invisible floor, meaning no time save, but now I have this dream where it would be possible to climb up into one of the later rooms.

Denmark

Screen above strange formation is just empty. It's not faster to cross the top than the usual route. What you would ideally want is to be able to jump of the right of the roof of strange formation and teleport shot into "The Guard" room but you exit the screen before the shot hits, so it doesn't work.

I created an edited Strange Formation to show this:

I don't believe it's possible to get on top of strange formation normally though. The problem is that you're teleported near the center of the green beam rather than to the side of the wall so you have to travel further before shooting your second shot which is supposed to boost you up the wall, but with the extra travel time you don't have enough upwards speed left to get the boost.

So I am unaware of glitch/technique names so please correct me if I miss them, but for the OOB trick on Lost Mountaintop, do you have to get the late jump after the teleshot to be able to get up, or does it just make it easier? I've been practicing trying to do the OOB trick, but I'm still pretty bad at it. I've gotten it probably a dozen times or so, but I've noticed the late jump helps me get it more consistently (I'm also inconsistent at late jumping). Also, if anyone has any tips for doing either of those tricks, please let me know! Thanks :D

Hey Cry, have you joined us on the Discord server yet? You'd get answers on there far faster than on here :)

Also, I'm not totally understanding your question, but if you're talking about when you collide with that wall on LM and jump from there, then yes that jump you do on that wall is needed, at least I can't do it any other way,

United States

Oh, I have not been on the Discord server yet. I may have to do that, though I have no clue how... :/ And yeah, I do mean that part of LM. But specifically, whenever you do a jump after a teleshot, you have a very small amount of time where you can initiate the jump after you've teleported. This is what allows you to jump around single blocks at the top of green beams, like in the rooms Blocked Way and Not So Hard. So I was curious if one of those kinds of jumps are necessary to get in the second teleshot jump. Does that help clarify my question? If not, I can try to ask someone if I am able to access the Discord server.

I'll send you an invite via message in a moment, and yes you do need to jump to make that shot, there's an awesome tutorial I'll link you on how to do it.

Scratch that, here: discord.gg/GcuxY , follow that link once you download Discord and that'll get you into the community chat.

That link didn't work, but I changed my Discord username to match my username over here, if that helps.
