Hey again ! So I made some levels, and I wanted to know what you were thinking of it :D

IT IS NOT COMPLETE YET ! IT IS STILL IN PROGRESS !

Do a save of your game before, we never know what can happen ! You just have to place all the files (except the text file, it just contain some informations) in the ame folder, something like "C:\Steam\steamapps\common\outtheresomewhere\level", run the game and TADA ! New levels ! They can be accessed from the second level, a door will be in the upper left corner.

I just played through them and they were pretty fun. I will probably play around with them a bit more this weekend to see if I can get a decent time. Got a 2:10 on my second play through without doing any OOB, but that could come down a lot. A lot of pretty precise timing shots which I kept messing up on my first play through.

Early on there were some out of bounds issues. On the first map you can jump on top of the level to the left and if you walk a little that way you enter an endless fall. More serious perhaps is on the second level if you stand on top of the spiky elevator platform you can jump on top of the level and just run right, skipping a ton of stuff.

In the ghost level it seems like you want us to go all the way around the top, but you can just jump across the gap over the lava and skip that whole thing.

I was a bit disappointed that you didn't leave the possibility of a pacifist run. You have put in just enough hp that we can get past the big brute without killing him, but the 4 small guys below seem like they are impossible to pass without killing them.

Is there any meaning to the alien artifact that you can pick up or was it just put in there to collect?

The skip in the ghost level is normal, it is supposed to be not very hard but still not the simplest jump. It is wanted :)

I am fixing this pacific thing right now ! It is a good idea !

For the alien artifact, if I can end the campagn with the Grigori fight in space, yes there is a meaning :) I will do some tests.

I've just finished playing it and yeah, it was pretty cool! It was nice seeing levels actually made with intention that you use the "speedrunning strats". There was also some nice ideas in it :) . Too bad it was a little short.

Nevertheless, it's a shame that, because you need speedrunning techniques to go through the levels, nobody outside our little speerunning community can really play theses levels. :(

Otherwise, i don't have anything to add to what ghuia said except that i noticed the same things.

I was wondering if I should put a "normal strat" way for each map that use some speedruns strats, maybe in a new campagn (the same, but only with "normal strats")

Interesting, the second part is not linear. It's a good change of pace from the whole game! Oddly enough, it's also way easier and doesn't have any tricky part like the beggining of your maps. As for choosing the way your map is supposed to be played, i think it depends on who you want to share it with. It's pretty interesting for us to see speedrun strats in the level design but if you want to share it to other player on steam it will be unplayable for them. Just choose what you prefer!

This second part is supposed to be a laboratory from where monters escaped. It's just a transition to next levels that will be tricky again :) Okay, then it will be a tricky campagn :D Where you have to do some speedrunners tricks !

New part is available ! I had my finals last two weeks so I couldn't make more levels, sorry. There is few more maps, some tricks to do.

BUT ! I didn't test it yet so if there is any trick that is impossible/OOB possible/etc... please contact me !

Damn you added a ton of stuff. Very nice. At one point I thought it was impossible to progress, but it turned out I was just not doing it right. I did a quick pacifist run of the levels (took 3m14s assuming it ends when I touch the treeman):

I love the non-linear part you added. Kinda wish you would add at least one of the red containers to each non-linear path so there was something making you try them all out.

Some small issues issues I noticed:

  1. When the moving blocks with spikes underneath are placed right next to each other the game glitches out and it's easy to die if you walk on top of them. See:

Consider making the middle one a little different like they do in the main game.

The left one is fine since it just allows you to go back, but the right one leads to a neverending fall.

Very nice, i like it! The 4 blocks high boost jump is really a pain to do. I'm really glad we don't have to use it in the any% run ><.

Now, to add to what ghuia already said:

-You can still OOB in the first room. (The same way you OOB over "Jumping Over" in any% runs)

-In the 50_8 room there are two solid blocks without any texture: The first one: http://puu.sh/m8yuT/72da0e9e57.jpg And the one under the red beam: http://puu.sh/m8BZY/0039230c5f.jpg It actually makes the room look impossible at first glance because of this ^^'

-The lava really look weird. That's because you should use the "resize" tool in OGMO when you are putting lava (or water) in your level. The "resize" tool allow you to make rectangles of lava allowing the game to make lava look more homogeneous. You'll get this: http://puu.sh/m8zkM/2805109ea3.jpg

Tryed it and I liked it. ^^

Though, that part where ghuia had trouble in his run near the end with the 4blocks high vertical boost... it's killing me... I spent 15minutes just doing this room and only managed to land the jump 3 times... :'(

Also, the elevator glitch ghuia talked about, it's really frustrating... I died the first time I entered the room and stepped on it.

As for the visual aspect of your custom levels, I didn't find anything wrong beside what rezoons talked about. And for the OoBs, I would keep them, the one in the first room is interesting for speedruns imo. As for the one ghuia talked about, maybe just add a room above with a collectible.

ps : I'm gonna be a dick, but Ghuia, your run ain't pacifist. You destroyed the ships in the beginning. Kappa (And yeah, if you remember my attempt to make pacifist% a category, you can call me salty ;) )

Yay ! I am glad they liked it ! That is so cool ! :3

I am gonna fix some stuff, make new levels too, but I am going to Canada the 3rd of January so I am very busy packing my stuff, sorry. So don't expect one before.

BTW, the 4 blocks jump wasn't planned, I will remove it and use it later, with an alternative way I think (I don't think I can do it, that's why ahah) and will think about the OOBs :)

As promised, here are the ideas I got to ease up your 4blocks jump. I note them on a scale from 1 to 4 : 4 being the most difficult (yours), 1 being the easiest.

3 would be the same but with a red beam to prevent you from just using the teleport gun as shown above (therefore, it would still be a 4blocks, but you would not have to focus on both teleportgun and movement at the same time).

And 4 is yours. Obviously, there's a few other ways to change this jump. ;)

ps : As I said on Skype group, I'm working on other custom levels, I'll try to make a small dozen before I share them (I already have 3 and a half).

Hey, Just wanted to give some news : no, this work isn't dead. I now have free time to continue it ! You should see in few days the v0.4 coming in :)

I had a lot of problems for three weeks, and now that it's behind, I can finally continue this :)
