Mods in general: You're changing the original game... no thanks.

Sprite mods: Visual cues. Ban for safety. Text mods: Possible unfair time gain. Music mods: Audio cues, possible lag reduction (stick snap lag).

So no in my opinion.

I feel it would be best to ban all mods in general, just to keep undertale undertale, and prevent risk of advantages

If you speed run a game, it is normal for it to get boring in some parts. That is just a part of it. You can't change visuals or music in ocarina of time, for example, but they still watch the same cut scenes over and over again

Music mods have been a thing for over half a year and I haven't heard any complaints about them until now. They have been used for months without giving anyone an unfair advantage or creating drama. There has been no music that has just been used for an audio queue and everyone is only calling out music mods because people brought up text and sprite mods. As long as actual music is used in replacement of the original music, I dont see a problem.

I have said this in the Discord and I will say it again:

For sprite mods, it's best if it only technically changes the colors. For example, replacing the "-_-" in the human's sprite with a ":^)" or "-u-" would be technically changing the colors inside the sprite. If it adds a pixel that wasn't in the sprite, or deliberately changes the resolutions, it becomes a problem. If it changes the block, conveyor or trigger sprites (those only visible with a hotkey in debug mode), it should definitely be banned.

For music mods, I think it's obvious. You can replace them with what you want, but not delete them or replace them with pure silence or similar. For example, I replaced the Mettaton battle music (not Mettaton EX) with a Djjaner remix, and I replaced all of the Photoshop Flowey music with SiIvaGunner versions.

For text mods, those should be banned, I think. Althrough you can technically make them have the same amount of characters, it still makes it hard for moderators to check whether the text is good or not because mashing.

For mods in general, no.

A universal ban on modifications would objectively be the best thing for the game, and I say that as someone who stands to lose out from such a change, as my Power of NEO music is modded. If that means my times are voided and I need new PBs, so be it.

I would say, Have a mod checked before using it, like any music that my give an audio cue, Ex. any music specifically designed to play a sound before... maybe, a PC opportunity.

I like the idea of only allowing color changes and replaced music (as long as it's not silence or similar)

I think certain sprite and music mods can be allowed if we can confirm that they do not give an adventage to the run

I use an underswap mod which swaps sans sprite to a custom papyrus underswap sprite but only in the judgement hall does the sprite change. The hack is meant for genocide sans fight to be replaced with an underswap papyrus geno fight. This does not change the fight itself but only replaces the music with a remix of bonetrousle, swaps the sans sprite with underswap papyrus, and gives a new sprite for ghaster blasters. It does not affect gameplay in anyway.

I think mods like the one I talked about above should be allowed or mods that only do one or multiple things that the hack that I talked about above does. I think hacks that do other things (beside CSM) should be banned.

The fuck is stick snap lag

I dont really even see why people would want to be messing with files, changing music, colouring sprites etc . Most games are not allowed to have mods, so why should undertale be different? Everything is going to be simple if we just say no to mods in general, everything is going to be a lot easier. Undertale is a good speedgame as it is, please leave it like that

@KillMTT The thing with that is that verifying if a mod is legit (specially if it's a custom mod) would take an INSANE amount of time. How do you know this is an audio cue? You don't. Not until you see that part of the run 500 times. Same for sprite mods. How do you know the runner isn't using this seemingly useless pixel to their advantage?
