You can actually save that OO2 problem. Basically you walk under the platform and as soon as you start going past the barrier, mash jump and hope you don't die. I don't have a video, but I managed it once.

Note: do not use Super Sonic at ANY point in Mirage Saloon 1. I had to do the level three times because of this shit.

The same thing can happen if you're moving too quickly to the left as normal Sonic as well. I accidently did that with a drop dash during my first run
