How does the community feel about a 100% category? That is, all errands must be completed, that means the laundry pick up on Wednesday and clinic visit on Friday. I think it could make this game more accessible, because a player would not need to perfect the gimp cutscene skip.
EDIT: Pacifist runs could be made a Misc. category as well, after all, the game recognizes them with a ranking
I'm a new speedrunner of this game who can't do the gimp skip yet :P
I like your idea, the community in this game is small and it would be awesome that more people show more interest!!
I'm not sure we should call it 100% category. I think that "All errands" would be a better name.
Pacifist category? If someone submits such run, we'll create the category, but until then, no. People often talk about making a run in obscure category (mostly because they wanna speedrun the game, but don't want to compete against runs in standard categories for some reason), but unfortunately they never deliver :( Having empty categories is not fun.
I agree with an All Errands run. Pacifist sounds quite ironic too so I could get on that.
If you guys want a run category that avoids the use of skips glitches, maybe make a "glitchless" or "no skips/no skip glitches" instead? Seems more 'newbie-friendly' than "All Errands", since in "All Errands" there might still be hard glitches strats on the future, also the category still doesn't require you to do the Friday clinic errand which seems pointless to do in a run. (Of course, extra categories seem pointless if no one is running it yet)
One day if I have lots of time, running this game looks fun indeed, and a "glitchless" category could be better to start with since it's less of a hassle to learn
I really want there to be a Jesus% category: No kills, so that the end screen says "Thanks for playing, Jesus!"
Here you go:
This is also glitchless, but not for any reason that has to do with the "No kills" requirement.
Oh, I see what you mean. They're both the same. Just finish the game without killing anybody. I call it Jesus% because the end screen says "Thanks for playing, Jesus!", but you can also call it Pacifist Any%.
Was looking around in the leaderboards and there's already another pacifist run http://www.speedrun.com/run/pm3l96wm
Also, kills with Chompy doesn't actually count towards your stats, so maybe it could be useful for Pacifist runs?
I've tried using Chompy to kill the confession priest, but unfortunately the errand doesn't trigger if you killed the priest with Chompy. Haven't tried with Uncle Dave though so that might be worth a try.
srd_27, this was in an announcement by RWS:
Fixed a gameplay problem where Uncle Dave could be killed by someone other than the player without completing the errand. As a result, a pacifist run is now possible in both POSTAL and Impossible difficulties.
Nice, I guess that means Chompy will be the pacifist strat for Uncle Dave then.
Wonder if the confession can also now be done in the same way? (There's a chompy in the secret zombie dog tunnel below burning library)
I think it's a cool idea. Useless NPC already did that, so at least we know it can be done.
Patch 5100 added the day selection from the main menu, you can now submit ILs for all the 5 days, please read the rules and good luck!
