Go down the stairs. Beat the shit out of Trip because he has the least health. They'll be like okay go kill your brother lol. Run past the intellect devourers. Cast fire weapon on yourself, make sure your party is following you and attacking things. Kill the intellect devourer’s first, then hack away at the illithid. Mash through the dialogue with your grandpa sword. You win.

Whenever you level up past three, pick monk, level strength. Tell grandpa sword that you want him to do cold damage then electrical damage. It’s the most damage you can get out of it and your brother the illithid isn’t resistant to specific damage types.
