First, to the poor soul who got suckered in to running this category, you have my sympathies. I highly suggest starting off with any% or any% no slots. This is a long run, and not for the faint-of-heart. All the stuff I wrote about tips and tricks for any% continues to hold true in this category. We just have to pick up a lot of stuff and absorb all the Seru on all characters. Then there’s Lapis, Master Course, and Earth Egg, the unholy trinity of the run.

100% is defined as: All characters know all Arts (15/15) All characters know all Magic (22/22) All treasures tracked by the in-game tracker on the end screen are collected (260/260) Optional superboss Lapis is defeated.

The good news for Seru absorption is that NO Seru are permanently missable; they all appear in Bio-Castle at L3. Since you’ll be in the best shape to take them out, and absorb rates are highest at L3 (and you’ll have Ivory Books), we’ll get the bare minimum number of Seru throughout the game, then grind for them all in Bio-Castle. We’ll also have Vahn with Crimson Book to get a lot of EXP, since he’ll need lots of levels for Master Course. I recommend 42, but 41 is probably safe.

A full checklist of all items, with some pictures of where they are, can also be found here: https://www.legendoflegaia.net/legend_of_legaia/items/checklist.html . With that said, the order in which the items are listed on that guide isn’t the best way to pick up all the items, so I’ll be getting them in a different order. Still, it’s wise to cross-check for completeness’s sake (I did, and you should too because who wants to do a run this long and then miss an item halfway through…)

Rim Elm I Default Names are fastest. Unlike many games, there is no 1 character / frame limitation on text. Mash through opening dialogue. When Mei talks about the hunter’s clothes, second option is faster. Vahn’s House – more mashing; Tetsu training. On the first turn, attack with a single command to save a fraction of a second. At dusk, go to Vahn’s house & talk to Val to advance to night. Night: Talk to Village Elder to advance plot Mist arrives: run from first Gimard. This could take multiple tries. Item 1: Healing Leaf x3 (Shopkeep in Rim Elm, after Mist, pre-Meta – permanently missed after getting Meta!) Get Meta at Genesis Tree (Must talk to Mei, take her to your house or item 4 is permanently missed) Item 2: Healing Leaf (Vahn’s Cupboard) Fight Gimard and get the Gimard spell (55% chance). I would reset if you don’t get it by the second try. I recommend using Charging Scorch (v > ^) Item 3: Magic Leaf (Elder’s House) Item 4: Mei’s Pendant (from Mei when leaving) Leave Town, Re-enter Item 5: Point Card (in Drawer after touching World Map for 1st time)

Sell: Healing Leaf x2 Buy: Survival Knife, Warrior Boots

World Map to Drake Castle. Fight 1-2 battles as needed to reach level 2. Hunter’s Spring Item 6: Healing Leaf (Hunter’s Spring)

Drake Castle I Item 7: Door of Light – Drake Castle Courtyard Note: Run from fights with 1x Drake Ghost or 2x Gimard. Skeletons are very difficult to run from. Do not use Gimard magic more than once per fight. Spirit, then Somersault -> Cyclone (^ v ^ ^ ^) works best. Left door on Balcony with Sunrise Key. Enter Sunrise Gate. On Second Floor, right door leads to Lightning Gate. Enter Lightning Gate. On Third Floor, right door leads to room with Star Key. Enter Star Gate. Take either path back into the 4th floor of the castle. Enter center door, then right door to reach the heal room. Acquire Fire Book I, and use it immediately. This can insta-kill Gimards at Vahn Lv. 3 Acquire Mountain Key from room through door to the left of the Throne Room Item 8: Fire Book I – Drake Castle save room

Snowdrift Cave Answers to Terra’s Questions are options 3, 2, and 4 (“Seru and Human”; “Genesis Tree”, “Rikuroa”) Item 9: Healing Shroom (after Noa Q2) Item 10: Healing Shroom (after Noa Q3) Item 11: Healing Shroom (training grounds) Fight 2x Red Piura and 1x Black Piura. I recommend fighting a Red one first. Spirit, then Rushing Gale (^ ^ < v >), followed by Dolphin Attack the following turn (> > < >) if needed Retreat. 2/3 chance of getting to 123 AGL for 6 art blocks with Spirit at Lv. 2 During Retreat, if you encounter a Mushroom, defeat it with Dolphin Attack. Run from all other fights and all fights in Snowdrift after getting Terra. Item 12: Healing Shroom (en route to outside)

Drake Kingdom Item 13: Nail Glove (blocking to the right)

Mt. Rikuroa I (Noa’s Side) Item 14: Healing Leaf (chest on Rikuroa) Fight battles on path to get to Lv. 3 before Golem. Item 15: Scarlet Jewel (chest) Item 16: Power Water (another chest) Equip Scarlet Jewel, use Power Water Golem (640 HP): Dolphin Attack every turn. Should take about 6 turns. Item 17: Phoenix (chest after Golem)

Mt. Rikuroa I (Vahn’s Side) (Skipping 2 chests [24, 25] for post-Songi 3) Item 18: Speed Elixir (chest on Vahn’s side) Item 19: Healing Bloom (chest on left en route to Caruban) You may use Gimard magic at-will during the climb. Try to absorb Vera (60% chance) (more chances in West Voz if fail) Vahn should be level 4 and have at least 40 MP (23/27 chance) before Caruban. Make sure to heal and restore Vahn’s MP with the Magic Leaf before the fight.

BOSS 1: CARUBAN (1,024 HP) Noa should alternate between Spirit and Tempest Break. Vahn should use Gimard throughout. Noa should heal with Healing Leaves / Shrooms as needed. Don’t get too bogged down in healing; you need to end this fight fairly quickly. Acquire Healing Bloom from Caruban (100% chance)

Revival Scene follows; this is one of the game’s longest input breaks.

After cutscenes finish: Menu: Unequip Scarlet Jewel from Noa, Organize Items, use Door of Light, and return to Drake Castle

Drake Castle II (Mist-free) Item 20: Platinum Card (where Drake was locked up) Item 21: Healing Leaf (mountain room, top-left chest) Item 22: Survival Knife (third-floor, left-room chest) Item 23: Magic Leaf (bottom-right of same room, hidden) Item 24: Healing Leaf (second-floor main room, left side) Item 25: Fury Boost (bottom of kitchen room) Item 26: Healing Leaf (chest in top of same room) Item 27/28: Healing Bloom & Swift Water: (left and right rooms of first floor) Get Fighting Robe (Tell Noa you don’t know what money is), Wisdom Water (0/3 questions right on Noa’s quiz – I choose options 4/1/1 to ensure total failure)

Sell: Wisdom Water, Speed Elixir, Guardian Water, Magic Leaf, Scarlet Jewel, Survival Knife Buy: Defender Chain x3, Electric Shoes (equip)

Water Gate Item 29: Wind Book I (Water Gate)

Drake Kingdom Item 30: Phoenix (left blocking) Item 31: Life Water (right blocking)

Biron Monastery I Item 32: Power Elixir (Biron Statue) Item 33: Healing Bloom (Pot in Zopu’s Room)

Talk to Zopu to advance to party. Talk to Gala then Songi, then Zopu. Choose West Voz (option 1); saves dialogue, and you’re railroaded to go there first anyway. Leave for West Voz after Gala joins.

Drake Kingdom Item 34: Ivory Book (blocking)

Equip: Defender Chain on Vahn, Fighting Robe, Defender Chain, Ivory Book on Noa, and Defender Chain on Gala. Use Swift Water, Wind Book I on Noa. Head to W. Voz.

West Voz Forest I Take some battles here; you want to reach Lv. 6 with Noa and Vahn; Lv. 4 with Gala by the Viguro fight. Try to absorb Vera (60%, 90% with Ivory Book) and Nighto (30%, 60% with Ivory Book) with both Vahn and Noa. Both characters need Nighto for Viguro fight and at least one needs Vera for healing. Move Ivory Book between Vahn and Noa, and heal as needed in the forest.

(skipping 2 chests [39, 41] for Dark Stone chest trip) Item 35: Healing Leaf (West Voz chest) Item 36: Shield Elixir (room with Fertilizer) Item 37: Magic Amulet (West Voz) Item 38: Door of Light (straight ahead) Item 39: Noa Feral (ahead) Item 40: Healing Bloom (to left) Item 41: Deep Sea Jewel (above Tree)

After Egg cutscene: Equip: Ra-Seru Egg on Noa, Noa Feral on Noa, Deep Sea Jewel on Gala, Arrange Items, Door of Light out. Return to Biron.

WARNING: You will not have Gala again until you leave for East Voz. The Gimard Lv. 2 and Theeder Lv. 2 special attacks are quite painful. Exercise discretion and caution in this area.

Biron Monastery II: Go to the bedroom to see Maya. Get: Item 42: Guardian Water (pot in Maya’s room) Go to the Kitchen to see Zopu. Get: Item 43: Medicine (chest in kitchen) Then talk to the lady below the kitchen table for a free heal. Afterwards, get: Item 44: Phoenix (pot above kitchen table) Head to East Voz.

East Voz Forest: If Noa has at least 41 max MP, it may be beneficial to get the Gizam spell here (30% chance, 60% with Ivory Book). This isn’t necessary by any stretch, but it can save time in the Viguro fight.

(Skipping 5 items [49, 51, 53, 54, 55] here for the second trip) Item 45: Magic Leaf (after Weed Hammer) Item 46: Healing Bloom (right in next room) Item 47: Azure Jewel (top of following room) Item 48: Medicine (next room chest) Item 49: Earth Jewel (above Genesis Tree between two tree branches)

Equip: Azure Jewel on Gala. Heal all characters to full. Use a Magic Leaf on Vahn to restore his MP to at least 53. Guardian Water on Noa.

Viguro x2 (1,280 HP each) Vahn and Noa should cast Nighto on the two Viguro. You want to get at least 1 confused or annihilated. Chances are 6.25% to kill, 43.75% to confuse, 50% no effect. You may be able to try again on turn 2, but this is not guaranteed, and you will lose a fair bit of time. Beyond that and I would reset. Gala is your healer. Once you have one killed/confused, give Noa a Fury Boost. Vahn should spam Gimard, Noa uses Tempest Break, and Gala heals as needed and defends otherwise; his damage output is minimal. If Noa has Gizam, use it to finish the first Viguro and do ~350 to the second one, saving a turn or so. After fight: Unequip: Azure Jewel. Revive the Genesis Tree and you’ll return to Biron

Biron Monastery III Item 50: 10 Healing Leaves (talk to Maya) Sell: Life Water, Ivory Book, Phoenix, Magic Amulet, Shield Elixir, Azure Jewel Buy: Deep Sea Jewel x2, Healing Leaf x53, Healing Bloom Sell: Healing Leaf x53 Buy: Savior Clothes, (sell Hunters Clothes if you need $) Power Shoes (888 pts)

Zeto’s Dungeon: The first room is particularly dangerous, as Gimard Lv.2’s, Theeder Lv.2’s, and Zenoirs all have nasty attacks that can kill any party member in 1 or 2 hits. I recommend keeping Noa’s HP high throughout the dungeon, and to not worry too much about Vahn’s or Gala’s. Their having less than full health helps make it easier to escape, while Noa should stay healthy since her high speed helps ensure escape chances earlier in the turn cycle.

Item 51: Thunder Book I (straight ahead) Item 52: Healing Leaf (right, up) Item 53: Healing Flower (down) Item 54: Fury Boost (left, left) Item 55: Healing Bloom: (left at next fork after F. boost) Item 56: Short Sword (behind elevator) Item 57: Shield Elixir (right at intersection) Item 58: Phoenix (north at intersection) Item 59: Medicine (left at intersection) Item 60: Magic Leaf (down at intersection) Items 61, 62, 63, 64: Healing Bloom, Burning Jewel, Tempest Jewel, Door of Light (four rooms before Songi)

Songi 1 (888 HP) Gala uses the Point Card to deal lethal damage. That was a lot easier than the last two boss fights! Gala always goes first, so there’s no risk of death in the fight.

Head to the Mist Generator. Before entering the Mist Generator Room: Equip: Short Sword, Deep Sea Jewel on Vahn; Mettle Ring, Deep Sea Jewel on Noa.

Zeto (5,000 HP) Turn 1: Vahn uses Tornado Flame, Noa uses Dolphin Attack, and Gala uses the Fury Boost on Noa. Vahn and Noa should focus on attacking. If either character runs low on AP, have them Spirit to restore it. Gala should stick to Healing Leaves during regular turns, and use a Healing Bloom on the turn after Zeto uses Call Wave (to restore HP after the Big Wave hits). Big Wave’s damage output tops out at about 320, so Vahn and Noa should spirit into a Big Wave if their HP falls below that level. Ultimately, you’ll gain or lose time based on how many Big Waves you see, and when you choose to heal / spirit / play it safe vs. being aggressive. There’s a certain finesse to this fight which comes from experience more than anything. Optimally, Zeto will do attack, Call Wave, Big Wave, and repeat that cycle. Big Wave takes time, but it will restore a lot of AP for Vahn and Noa. Eventually, you’ll do enough damage, and the first Mist Generator Guardian will fall.

Lots of Cutscenes follow. When you regain control in Biron, head toward West Voz, but continue up the river to the Ancient Caves.

Make sure to pick up: Item 100: Life Water (cupboard on first floor of Palace of Meditation) Speak with the three Haris. It’s irrelevant in which order you do so. Leave the palace and head toward the Fire Path. Another cutscene plays (short input break). Use the Magic Water on Gala and the Life Water on Noa. Heal if needed. Enter the furthest-left house, check barrels on right side for:

Item 101: Fury Boost (barrel to the right in the west house)

Head into the Fire Path Fire Path: Head through the first three rooms. At the fork: Item 102: Wisdom Water (right at first fork in Fire Path) Item 103: Speed Elixir (south at second fork, then right) Return back and head right. After the cutscene, get: Item 104: Healing Bloom (on path, right after cutscene) Head down into the Mist area below. Four items to pick up, one in each of the pillars Item 105: Magic Leaf (into first pillar via S entrance) Item 106: Gala Mace (S pillar, E entrance) Item 107: Healing Bloom (center pillar, W entrance) Item 108: Healing Flower (W pillar, W entrance) Save your game if you see fit, then enter the last tunnel and the Lava room. DO NOT PICK UP THE CHEST IN THE FIRE ROOM! DO NOT DO IT! WAIT UNTIL AFTER XAIN! Make sure the Speed Ring is on Noa, and go ahead and heal the party to be safe, then encounter Xain.

Xain (9,511 HP) Noa should be able to outspeed Xain as long as she has the Speed Ring equipped. Use the Point Card to one-shot, other characters defend. Cutscenes follow.

Item 109: Guardian Chain (E after beating Xain) Item 110: Life Water (NE after beating Xain) – you could have gotten this before Xain as a Door of Light, but it’s more valuable as a Life Water. Item 111: Incense (SE corner of the room after Xain) Item 112: Magic Water (chest along path back, where Phoenix chest was that you shouldn’t have gotten earlier) Item 113: Healing Bloom (continue W) from the Magic Water Item 114: Power Water (far NE, rounding about the entire room)

Octam (Underground) II Item 115: Miracle Water (check Future [Red] Hari’s grave twice)
After this, head to the building north of the Mansion to take the elevator back to the surface. Arrange Items, use the Miracle Water on Noa, the Magic Water on Gala, and Door of Light to the World Map. Head E, N, then E toward Ratayu.

Ratayu I Head to the palace. Take the staircase up on the right side. On the right side of the balcony, get: Item 116: Swift Water (east side balcony, S-most door) Head into the Throne Room, talk with Saryu to get the Letona Key. Swift Water on Noa, Door of Light back to the World Map, re-enter Ratayu, and take the first right and follow the path toward Letona. Mt. Letona: As soon as you enter the second screen on Letona, use the Incense. Take the fork left for: Item 117: Wisdom Ring (first left) Item 118: Magic Leaf (same) Double back, head north into the cave for: Item 119: Guardian Water (path to north at next fork) Double back and head right to the next room. Head down at the fork to get: Item 120: Power Ring (jut down south in next room) Enter the next cave. Ignore the path E and head N. Head W at the fork, get two chests: Item 121: Incense (loop around N then W in cave) Item 122: Healing Bloom (same) Heal if needed, equip Ebony Jewels on everyone and Power Ring on Noa, then use the Incense. Walk up the rest of the mountain, along the way picking up: Item 123: Wisdom Water (on path) Item 124: Healing Fruit (cut to right in last cave) Save if you see fit Item 125: Magic Fruit (SW of Genesis Tree)

Songi II: T1: Healing Bloom / Spirit / Point Card T2: Spirit / Point Card / Spirit

After the Revival cutscene: Earth Jewel over Ebony Jewel on Vahn, Earth Jewel over Ebony Jewel on Gala, arrange items, Wind Book II on Noa, Thunder Book II on Gala, Door of Light out.

Ratayu II Return to Ratayu, go to the inn, and talk to Eliza (girl in the purple dress) twice and agree to let Noa take her place. (You need not heal / rest first – the game will restore your HP to full before the next sequence begins.) There will be a short input break to follow. Go through the sequence and you’ll gain control of Vahn and Gala. Follow into the laboratory, and you’ll encounter the Kemaro guard dogs.

Kemaro x2 fight (1,400 HP each) These enemies have deceptively high damage output, and can easily one-shot a character if they both attack the same character. With Earth Jewels, this is not much of a problem, so make sure you equipped them before. Basically, Gala should heal as necessary, and Vahn should use Fire Blow to deal ~500 damage per turn. This honestly isn’t a hard fight if you have Earth Jewels on.

Heal up, and swap Vahn and Gala’s Earth Jewels back for Ebony Jewels. Continue down the path, watch some cutscenes, and you’ll encounter Saryu.

Saryu (13,245 HP) Again, despite the inaptly-named Earthquake attack, Saryu’s attacks are all Dark element. The exact same strategy as for Songi applies here. The only difference is that your party’s levels and HP are a bit higher, so the fight is a little faster/safer/easier. You should have 67 elixirs after the fight. (Note: There is a 38% chance after this fight of acquiring a Lost Grail. If you should be fortunate enough, it will change your coin purchases slightly – I will point it out.) After the fight, more cutscenes, then pick up the following:

Item 126: Healing Berry (right side of Saryu) Item 127: Speed Elixir (left side of Saryu) Item 128: Fury Boost (same) Item 129: Healing Flower (west-side balcony, center door)

Now, it’s time to do the Juggernaut Room clip.

I would recommend practicing this on your own, since it’s difficult to explain what to do in words. I personally do the clip from the left, but you can do it from either side. You’ll want to do this in two parts. First, you want to edge yourself on the absolute closest pixel you can to the door in the horizontal (X-axis) direction. You’ll know you’re on the right pixel when you can move straight up and the guard will automatically talk to you without your interacting with him. Next, move slightly down (just a tiny bit), then mash X while moving up+right. If done correctly, you’ll clip into the door’s loading zone and down into the basement. Follow the path all the way to the end to get the secret Evil Talisman item!

Return out the way you came. Five items to pick up:

Item 130: Magic Leaf (NE corner of first room of castle) Item 131: Ivory Book (NE of Inn) Item 132: Door of Wind (W of that house) Item 133: Magic Leaf (Weapons Shop) Item 134: Healing Bloom (Items Shop)

Return to Ratayu and head out the West Gate toward Dohati’s castle. Before reaching the world map, a few equipment changes: Vahn: Ebony Jewel -> Evil Talisman; Noa: Ebony Jewel -> Speed Ring, Power Ring -> Silver Compass; Gala: Ebony Jewel -> Golden Compass.

Dohati’s Castle Item 135: Wonder Elixir (W then S in first room) Item 136: Healing Flower (N fork when you went south for Elixir) Item 137: Power Elixir (back to E, N room before escalator) Item 138: Healing Bloom (E room after escalator – look for the light coming from the door) Item 139: Phoenix (S at fork right after escalator) Item 140: Healing Fruit (N to room in next tower) Item 141: Life Water (pass escalators, to W) Item 142: War Soul (jut S after escalators) Item 143: Fury Boost (in next tower, N into the next door) Item 144: Healing Berry (N into following door) Item 145: Magic Fruit (N past the entrance to Dohati’s Tower) Item 146: Shield Elixir (E to room after Save Point) Item 147: Power Water (W to room after Save Point)

Equip: Vahn: Ebony Jewel over Evil Talisman; Noa: Ebony Jewel over Speed Ring, Power Ring over Silver Compass (optional: War Soul over Defender Chain); Gala: Ebony Jewel over Golden Compass, Heal everyone to maximum, Power Water on Noa, Magic Leaf on Gala if needed. (It may be tempting to put a Speed Ring on Vahn or Gala to help them outspeed Dohati, but Dohati’s 102 SPD is high enough such that they won’t be able to do so, even with the +20% bonus; stick to the +HP accessories).

Dohati (17,200 HP) This fight will play out very similar to the last fights. Watch out for Chaos Breath. Unlike Saryu and Songi, Chaos Breath isn’t used randomly, but does follow a somewhat predictable pattern. It will always be used on turn 1, and thereafter whenever Dohati is particularly large – keep an eye on his physical size. He grows slowly each turn, and will grow as he takes more damage, using the Breath when at maximum size. It also has a chance to inflict the Venom or Toxic status on any party members. Otherwise, use Medicine as needed, and make sure Noa isn’t affected; it will lower her ATK stat considerably, and her HP is the lowest of the party. It might not be a horrible idea to use a Healing Fruit with Gala on the first turn. Otherwise, you’ll be following the same basic strategy of 9 Power Elixirs (56 remaining) + Fury Boost. Counting the two Miracle Waters you’ve used on her thus far, there is a decent chance Noa will have at least 166 AGL for this fight, meaning that she can use 8 art blocks while in Spirit / Fury Boost. Despite the temptation, don’t chain Tempest Break into another Art – conserve your AP instead. 3 Tempest Breaks should be enough to do the job.

More cutscenes follow. When you regain control, leave Ratayu Palace and head to the World Map. It is faster to leave Ratayu out of the West Gate than the main entrance. Warp to Vidna, and pick up:

Vidna II Item 148: Chicken Heart (talk to Danpas in basement of the bottom left house) Item 149: Shield Elixir (chest in machine room, top-right house) Item 150: Spring Salts (chest in machine room) Item 151: Healing Flower (chest in machine room) Item 152: Magic Ring (check top-left machine in machine room)

Warp to Rim Elm after this

Rim Elm II Item 153: Honey (defeat Bees) These guys aren’t too tough. Use Hypers to take out the Killer Bees (288 HP each). Once they’re gone, go after the Queen (888 HP). Door of Wind to Jeremi once you get back to the World Map.

Jeremi: Go to Zalan’s house and view the scene with Pepe. You’ll get a Miracle Water. Return to the world map: Vahn: Ebony Jewel -> Golden Compass; Noa: Ebony Jewel -> Silver Compass, Power Ring -> Speed Ring; Gala: Ebony Jewel -> Evil Talisman, Defender Chain -> Chicken Heart. Check to see if Gala has at least 184 max MP. This will depend on his MP levels / RNG, and is more likely than not (average is 190). Arrange items, use the Miracle Water & Honey on Noa, and Door of Wind to Octam.

Octam Item 154: Swift Water (NW building hidden in corner) Item 155: Healing Bloom (bushes NE of this building) Item 156: Speed Elixir (E-most building) Item 157: Slowness Chain (Give Spring Salts to Mayor for this; he’s in the Hari shrine.)

Karisto Station I Get the 3000 G if you want by checking the tree. Item 158: Traveler’s Kit (check Honest Person’s Store. You MUST pay 3,000 G or you will permanently miss Vitality Ring #225). Then head to Sol.

Sol I: We’re going to be here for a while. Buckle in. Head up to the third floor (two screens up) If Gala’s HP is greater than 184 but less than 192: Enter the door on the third floor, pick up the Magic Water from the Sage’s Treasure Chest (it’s silver & gold instead of red). Leave and head up the stairs. We’ll get it later otherwise. You’ll have a cutscene with Gaza here. Continue on and you’ll get into another cutscene with Cara.
When Noa asks what a pimp is, it is 10 seconds or so faster to choose the option “a man who lives off a woman” than “I don’t know either”. So do that. Watch Noa kick Grantes’s face in. It’s a pretty funny scene casually. Continue to the Muscle Dome (just past the elevator on 4F) Buy from the coin dealer: Vitality Ring x13, Incense x27, Soru Bread x99, Gold Card After the cutscene, escape from the first round of the beginner, expert, and master courses (in any order) to get: Item 159: Chicken King (run from first fight of all three courses)

Head to the Dance Competition (first room on 5F) Talk to the man in the suit near the stage to enter the Dance Competition (cost = 500 G) Beat both rounds of the Dance Competition to get 10,000G (and the Swimsuit key item which isn’t used). In order to beat the Dance Competition, use triangle on the first two turns and then again on the last one. As long as you didn’t fail any inputs, you should win every time. If your inputs are precise, you may be able to fail one input and still be successful. Mary will score 539 points every time, so you need to score at least that many to be successful. Your prize is: Item 160: Swimsuit & 10K G (beat Dancing Competition) Then talk to the Disco King to get: Item 161: Speed Chain (talk to Disco King after) Head to the item shop on 6F. Talk to the Bakery and talk to the items dealer (not Soru), Sell: Magic Ring, Vitality Ring x12, Soru Bread x91, Buy: Stone Amulet x21 (15,750 points) Go to Armor Shop: Buy: One of Everything (4575 points, 20,225 total) Head to the Warehouse, say “I am not a Poor Kid”, haggle kid on left to 40K for: Item 162: Life Grail (buy from kids for 40K) Head up to 7F to get: Item 163: Healing Fruit (back of Community Hall) Item 164: Magic Fruit (back of Sol Dayschool) Head to the Roof, and pick up: Item 165: Shield Elixir (bottom-right of roof) Item 166: Power Elixir (bottom left of roof) Item 167: Miracle Water (top-left of roof) Attempt to enter the temple, and be stopped by Old Deez. Cutscenes follow.
Equip: Noa: Silver Compass -> Luminous Jewel, Speed Ring -> Speed Chain Gala: Defender Chain -> Spirit Jewel, Life Ring -> Luminous Jewel Arrange Items, Use Miracle Water on Noa, Magic Water (if you got it earlier) on Gala Talk to the top-left monk to get a full HP/MP restore. (Gala MUST have at least 192 MP!) If Gala doesn’t have at least 192 MP max: Noa: Speed Chain -> Power Ring, Defender Chain -> War Soul; Vahn: Golden Compass -> Luminous Jewel; Gala: Evil Talisman -> Speed Chain Leave the temple, and you will encounter Gaza.

Gaza (12,000 HP) Vahn defends. Noa uses the Point Card. Gala casts Evil Seru Magic (192 MP required). If Gala doesn’t have 192 MP, you’ll have to beat the last 2,001 HP out the hard way. Use Vulture Blade and Fire Blow with Noa and Vahn, and have Gala throw Healing Flowers as needed. It won’t take too long.

After the fight is over, talk to the same monk as before to restore your HP/MP. Head back down toward the basement. When you get to the 7F elevator room, enter it, and take the right elevator down to 4F. Equip: Gala: Luminous Jewel -> Ebony Jewel; (should have Evil Talisman/Spirit Jewel/Ebony Jewel) Vahn: Golden Compass -> Silver Compass; (Mei’s Pendant / Defender Chain / Silver Compass) Noa: Luminous Jewel -> Chicken King, (Defender Chain / Chicken King / Speed Chain) Use Incense

The optimal path through the downstairs is: Enter the door on 3F. Get the Magic Water chest (you may have already gotten the water before), and put Soru Bread in. Go down the stairs, do the same with the next chest (Guardian Water), down one more set of stairs for chest 3 (Life Water). Leave the room (not via the stairs) and re-enter the main hall and take the door just past the stairs. Go into this room (the Inn) and head down the stairs. Get chest 4 here (Healing Berry), feed it, head back to the previous room, get chest 5 here (Power Water), head up the stairs to get chest 6 (Wisdom Water) in the café. Leave by going out the door (not down the stairs again), and return to the main corridor. Head down and enter the arms shop (it has a sword hanging in front of it). Get chest 7 (Swift Water), then head up the stairs and get the final chest (Wonder Elixir, your third). If you’ve fed all the chests, you’ll hear/feel a short rumble. Make sure to pick up also: Item 168: Phoenix (near Wonder Elixir Sage Chest)

Also, use another Incense when it runs out (25 remaining)

Head back to the main hall, and go down to the basement. Enter the room with the gates on it in the basement, and activate the hologram. This will trigger a short cutscene and let you pass down into the lower level. Item 169: Speed Elixir (chest to north after reaching basement) Item 170: Mary’s Diary (check middle bookshelf twice) Item 171: Wonder Amulet (top of next room) Item 172: Golden Book (bottom-right of next room)

Walk around, and enter Warrior’s Square. After the short cutscene, flip the switch to pull the first gate down. Then, work through the puzzle (purple, teal, blue, red and yellow, white and red, pass through the white switch to flip the second gate, green, teal, and then through the teal gate to the Square). After passing through the teal gate for the second time, but before triggering the boss fight (who knew, right?) Items: Arrange Items, Magic Water on Gala if you didn’t do so earlier, all other Waters on Noa, and do whatever with the Wisdom Water, since it’s good as useless. Heal (if necessary; you shouldn’t need to) Equip: Noa: Chicken King -> Ebony Jewel Head to the center to encounter Gaza

Gaza 2 (15,000 HP) Despite the element change from Light to Dark and the extra 3,000 HP, this fight is identical to the first. Vahn defends, Noa uses the Point Card, and Gala casts Evil Seru Magic (hereafter ESM). Revive Genesis Tree, get Astral Sword, watch cutscene. Backtrack toward the main part of Sol Tower. On the way, get the treasure chests with a Golden Book and a Wonder Amulet.
Head to the Inn, head downstairs, talk to Etora Ignao Durk de La Micentus the Eighth, Emperor of Sol. Get the password to Usha Research Center (X X Triangle Circle Square). Despite the fact that I just gave you the password, the characters won’t know it, and you won’t be able to input it, without viewing the cutscene. Head to the Armor Shop on the second floor: Sell: Stone Amulet x21, Wonder Amulet, Golden Book, Luminous Jewel x3, Chicken Heart Buy: All armor/weapons. Head back to the exit. It’s finally time to leave Sol Tower! While you are on the bridge (don’t return to the world map): Equip: Noa: Ebony Jewel -> Chicken King, Speed Chain -> Power Ring, Gala: Spirit Jewel -> Speed Chain Arrange Items, Warp to Karisto Station (don’t hit the world map from Sol, this will trigger a cutscene, which you can skip in this manner). Walk to Buma to the Northeast.

Buma: Just walk straight out. Don’t trigger this long cutscene, please. We’re only here to set a Door of Wind warp point for later. Head west to the Usha Research Center. You’ll need one Incense for this walk (24 remaining)

Usha Research Center I Usha: Talk to the pipe, enter the password (X X Triangle Circle Square) to access the lab. Head to the top floor. En route, get Item 173: Healing Berry (chest in top-right) Item 174: Magic Fruit (cabinet on 2nd floor above elevator mechanics) Item 175: Magic Fruit (chest on 3rd floor just below the Doctor) Talk to the Doctor and mash through more scenes. Head downstairs, Mrs. Usha will give you a quiz. Answers are 3 (Uru Mais), 2 (Dream Dreams), 4 (The Fire Droplet), 2 (Usha Research Center). You’ll get the Ruins Key (key item) as your prize. Leave Usha, head west to Uru Mais.

Uru Mais Who wants to watch 22 minutes of cutscenes? Not I, but we’re going to whether you want to or not! Item 176: Healing Berry (chest in the house) After that, head to the ruins to trigger scene. Enter any of the three doors, head to the end of the hall, view a dream sequence. Rinse and repeat twice. You need only talk to the central Tieg and say that Tieg told you everything. You need not actually talk to the outer ones. More cutscenes, get Fire Droplet, head down the temple, even more cutscenes, then you’ll regain control of the party. Head around the front side of the temple to the right side, head into the crevice of the debris and check the area to get:
Item 177: Magic Grail (check indentation on right side after Juggs attack) Door of Light out. Arrange Items, then Door of Wind to Usha.

Usha Research Center II Talk to Dr. Usha and after yet more cutscenes, you’ll get 4 TimeSpace Bombs (key items) Head back down. Mrs. Usha will give you another quiz. Choose options 4 (Nivora Ravine), 3 (Entrance), 1 (three seconds), and 4 (to Awaken Buma’s Genesis Tree). You’ll get for your trouble:

Item 178: 5 Healing Berries, 5 Healing Fruits, and 5 Magic Fruits. (Answer Mrs. Usha’s questions correctly – 4/3/1/4)

Talk to the items dealer: Sell: All obsolete armor/weapons, Magic Grail, Spirit Jewel (you get another soon). (Make sure NOT to sell Life Grail; you need it for Master Course) Buy: Healing Berry x91 Sell: Healing Berry x70 Buy: Magic Fruit x42 (should have at least 30,000 points now)

Leave Usha, Door of Wind to Buma, walk up to Nivora Ravine.

Nivora Ravine: Cutscene plays as you check the crevice in the ice just to the left of center. Head into the next room and up to the summit. View another cutscene, head down the steps, get: Item 179: Warrior Icon (chest before split)

It’s time for the gang to split up (and search for clues???)

A note: use Incense in this dungeon liberally (3 times, 21 remaining, but 2 if possible). Getting into a battle here is really not good. Also, the final room of Gala’s tunnel (after the room with the snowball) doesn’t have enemy encounters for some unknown reason. Use that fact to your advantage. There are five items to pick up here. In order, they are: Item 180: Mettle Gem (Vahn’s path at the very start) Item 181: Rainbow Jewel (Noa’s path near start) Item 182: Spirit Jewel (Gala’s path near start) Item 183: Fury Boost (Vahn’s path after pushing stone block) Item 184: Magic Fruit (Noa’s Path, room after gate switch)

Cutscenes follow, enter Three Stooges fight.

Heal up and restore Gala’s MP if needed to at least 192. Switch some accessories: Vahn: Silver Compass -> Burning Jewel (should have Mei’s Pendant / Defender Chain / Burning Jewel) Noa: Chicken King -> War Soul, Defender Chain -> Mettle Gem (Mettle Gem / Power Ring / War Soul) Gala: Equip Spirit Jewel (Evil Talisman / Speed Chain / Spirit Jewel)

Che Delilas (12,000 HP) Gala uses Point Card on turn 1, ESM on turn 2. There’s a very small but non-zero risk of death here independent of human error. Ultimately, reducing this risk to zero is untenable short of using the Point Card, which requires another 10,000 points (100,000 G = 4,000 more coins, which is not worth the time given the small risk.) Lu Delilas (9,500 HP) Noa uses the Point Card. Unlike Che, Lu is not nearly as strong, and cannot one-shot.

Gi Delilas (10,000 HP) Point Card twice. The second time will only do 30 damage or so, but that’s enough. Gi can two-shot Vahn, but that’s not an issue with the Burning Jewel equipped, which will halve Gi’s damage output.

With the Three Stooges down, there will be more cutscenes to follow, and you will get a chance to heal/save. Heal, Magic Fruit on Gala, use Fire/Wind/Thunder Book III on the respective characters. Equip: Vahn: Burning Jewel -> Silver Compass Noa should have 100 AP at this point, but double check. Also check Noa’s AGL in the status screen. Your strategy will depend on whether Noa has at least 188 AGL, or less than that number. It is slightly more likely than not that she does. Unlike the Gaza fight earlier, the accessory setup doesn’t change.

Koru (20,000 HP) You have 5 turns to win this fight. On Koru’s 5th turn, it explodes with Dead End Crisis, dealing 9999 damage to each character. Even if you have a Lost Grail, it won’t matter.
(It is technically possible to go out of one’s way to get a Spikefish Flute from fishing. If you have one, using it on Koru breaks the AI script, giving you 255 turns to defeat Koru. We don’t need them here.)

Turn 1: All characters use Power Elixir on Noa Turn 2: Vahn/Noa use Power Elixir on Noa, Gala heals w/ Healing Flower Turn 3: Vahn: Power Elixir on Noa, Noa Fury Boost self, Gala heals: Turns 4 and 5 depend on Noa’s AGL stat If Noa AGL >= 188 Turn 4 Vahn & Gala: Power Elixir on Noa Noa: Super Tempest (> > < > > < ^ ^ ^) Turn 5 Vahn: Burning Flare (> v < v <), Noa Super Tempest, Gala Power Elixir on Noa

If Noa AGL < 188 Turn 4: Vahn & Gala: Power Elixir on Noa Noa: Frost Breath -> Tempest Break (< < > > < ^ ^ ^) Turn 5: Vahn: Burning Flare, Noa Frost Breath -> Tempest Break, Gala casts ESM.

Buma When Koru goes down, you’ll automatically return to the World Map.
Noa: Mettle Gem -> Defender Chain, War Soul -> Chicken King; Gala: Spirit Jewel -> Ivory Book, Door of Wind to Buma. Buma: Cutscenes play, trees revived. After you get the Sheet Music from Cara, pick up two items: Item 185: Healing Fruit (Cara’s House fireplace) Item 186: Magic Fruit (Buma Inn chest)

Sol Tower: Take the 1F elevator to 4F, go down to the Jazz Club, and give the sheet music to the pianist. Cutscenes will play, Grantes will go to Buma, and you can leave out the way you came.

Buma: Go to Cara’s house (left side, behind the inn). More cutscenes. Get the Soren Flute and Light Egg key items. Leave, teleport to Usha:

Usha Research Center III Item 187: Legendary Rod (Usha Research Center, near beds on 1st Floor) Buy: Ivory Book, Bad Luck Bell, Medicine x10 (1050 points)

Mt. Dhini Check the shining inscription on Birdman Gate to gain access to Mt. Dhini. You’ll want to use 2 Incense to get through here without encounters (19 left). Along the way, you’ll need to pick up: Item 188: Unholy Icon (S at first fork on Mt. Dhini) Item 189: Phoenix (East at next fork) Item 190: Wonder Amulet (on path) Item 191: Healing Berry (on path) Item 192: Good Luck Bell (slight detour right before end of cave)

Head up to the summit, view cutscenes, arrive at Soren Camp.

Soren Camp: Talk to Cructes, the Soren Elder, in the far house past the inn on the left. After speaking with him, make sure to pick up: Item 193: Wonder Elixir (Soren Elder’s House)

Zora’s Floating Castle You’ll want 2 Incense to get through here (17 left) There are a few items to pick up here. At the first fork in the first room, pick up: Item 194: Healing Berry (West at fork) Proceed to the next room, then when you can head East, do so, and head into the cave to the north to get: Item 195: Magic Ring (East at fork, cave to N – S is dead end) Proceed past the open area into the elevator room, flip the switch, and go down the elevator. There’s a thin, hard to see path in the next room off to the right as you enter which leads to a chest with: Item 196: Life Water (Small hidden passage in room right after elevator to right) Double back, head into the glowing grate to find a chest containing Item 197: Evil God Icon (door to N in this room) Proceed to the next room, pass through the pipe, make sure Ivory Book is on Gala, then fight the Puera. Try to get Gala to get the kill; they have 1600 HP, so have Noa use an Art to weaken it, choose ‘Damage All’ if it uses Death Game, and then have Gala get the kill next turn. Ideally, everyone gets Puera here since the L3 ones are nasty sons-of-guns to try to absorb because they are crazy fast and love using Death Game, but Gala will have the hardest time getting Puera later. After beating Puera, flip the switch, double back, then head N into the next room. In that room, pass through the glowing grate, flip the switch, then check machine to get: Item 198: Soren Secrets (door after Puera fight, activate machine, then check machine) Proceed to the Throne Room (save if you wish and heal if not at full HP) and fight the Puera x2. Feel free to move around Ivory Books to help with magic accrual here. After you beat the Pueras, and hopefully get the absorbs, flip the two switches to enter the Throne Room. Head to the throne, then after the scene, make sure to get: Item 199: Magic Water (chest in room to left behind throne room)

Switch accessories: Vahn: Silver Compass -> Ebony Jewel (Mei’s Pendant / Defender Chain / Ebony Jewel) Noa: Chicken King -> Ebony Jewel (Power Ring / Defender Chain / Ebony Jewel) Gala: Evil Talisman -> Ebony Jewel, Spirit Jewel -> Wonder Amulet (Ebony Jewel / Speed Chain / Wonder Amulet) Heal if necessary, then try to leave the throne room the way you came and you will encounter Zora.

Zora (22,422 HP) Gala’s your healer – have him use Healing Fruits, Healing Flowers/Berries, and Medicine when needed to keep HP’s up. Vahn and Noa chuck Power Elixirs on Noa, then a Fury Boost on her. At 10 elixirs, start beating face with Super Tempests. The fight shouldn’t take too long.

After the fight, Songi makes an unannounced visit. Follow him into the throne room. After the cutscene, it’s time to leave by returning to the entrance. Before you do: Equip: Vahn: Ebony Jewel -> Silver Compass; Noa: Ebony Jewel -> Chicken King; Gala: Wonder Amulet -> Evil Talisman, Ebony Jewel -> Spirit Jewel; Arrange Items. Don’t worry – the six minutes is plenty of time. You lose a flat 20 seconds per battle, but with the Speed Chain and Chicken King equipped, battles won’t take that long anyway. You’ll probably also need at least one more Incense (15 remaining) After you arrive at the entrance, cutscenes will play and you will be back at the Soren Camp. After Cructes tells you to go to Conkram, leave and head to the items / weapons shop.

Soren Camp II Sell: Evil God Icon, Warrior Icon, Mettle Gem, Rainbow Jewel, Wonder Amulet, Unholy Icon, Magic Ring (Do NOT sell Life Grail; you need it for Master Course) Buy: Heavy Strike, Triumph Boots, Pronged Crown, Battle Robe, War God Band, War God Boots Make sure you pick up: Item 200: Healing Fruit (in weapons shop in Soren Camp)

Item Dealer: Sell: All obsolete weapons & armor, 25 Magic Fruit Buy: 58 Healing Fruit Sell: 58 Healing Fruit Buy: Healing Fruit x∞ (Make sure you have minimum 20K points for Rogue)

Conkram (Present). You should be able to get through Conkram using two Incenses. (13 remaining) After the cutscene, head to the right to get: Item 201: Spirit Jewel (right in open area of Conkram) Then head up and to the left (don’t climb the curved stairs) to get: Item 202: Lost Grail (left in open area of Conkram) Head into the castle. After the short scene, go up the stairs and talk to Queen Minea. After that scene, go down the stairs, talk to the two guards at the top left of the main floor, and head down the stairs to the elevator. King Nebular will give you the Seru Flame. Head back to where the Queen is, and enter the top-right room to go to the Past. Warning: this is the scene which will crash your game if you play on a PS3! So, don’t do that.

Conkram (Past) There are a few items to pick up here: Item 203: Power Water (far left side of west room after first staircase) Item 204: Guardian Water (left side of ledge after exiting castle) Item 205: Magic Fruit (right side, staircase down the ledge, below ledge) Item 206: Swift Water (NE house, through N entrance) Item 207: Wisdom Water (house above item shop) Head down the stairs and head to the inn (bottom-left part of the main plaza area). Stay the night (which will heal your HP/MP), watch the cutscene, and head down to the laboratory (where you got the Seru Flame earlier). Jump into the portal, view the scenes, and you’ll be in Rogue’s Tower.

Rogue’s Tower

Floor 1: Step on the portal. The next portal is straight ahead. Go through the doors and hit the next portal. Left portal leads to: Item 208: Magic Armband (first floor of Rogue’s Tower) Double back. Hit the right portal this time. Then the next portal, then the top-left portal to get: Item 209: Phoenix (first floor) Double back, then take the bottom-left portal and the large portal to be warped to Floor 2.

Floor 2: Go around the near portal and enter the far one; then take the south portal. Go around and into the doorway to the north portal. In the L-shaped room, take other portal, then in the next room, go into the S room and go through that portal to get: Item 210: Guardian Chain (second floor) Double back, leave the room, then take the SE portal to get: Item 211: Fury Boost (second floor) Double back, then take the N portal and fight Berserker L2:

Berserker L2 (10,000 HP) Turn 1: Magic Fruit Gala / Spirit / ESM Turn 2: Spirit / Spirit / ESM

Magic Fruit Gala, take the south portal, then the W (not SW) portal in the following room. Enter the portal you just entered, then take the W portal to encounter Caruban L2

Caruban L2 (4,096 HP) Spirit / Spirit / ESM

Step on the N portal, then the S portal, then the big portal and you’ll be warped to floor 3.

Floor 3: WARNING: While on this floor, stepping on a portal while the room is warped/pulsating will automatically warp you into the ‘penalty box’ and make you start the floor over again. I have found that stepping on a maximum of two portals per cycle is safe, but three will generally not be. Drink either font of water to restore your HP / MP to full, equip an Earth Jewel on Noa or Vahn if you want and/or the Speed Ring on Noa. Take the only portal you can, then the top-right portal to encounter Berserker Lv. 3

Berserker Lv. 3 (15,000 HP) Three casts of Juggernaut. Unlike the other minibosses in this dungeon, this one is actually rather dangerous. It is possible, though somewhat uncommon, for Berserker 3 to one-shot Vahn or Noa from full HP, so equipping a defender chain and/or a HP increasing accessory may be wise. In addition, you may also wish to put the Speed Ring on Noa so she has a better than 50% chance to act before Berserker; otherwise, she can chuck Healing Fruits. If you have any Earth Jewels, putting one on her or Vahn isn’t a bad idea. Unlike in any% where Vahn’s dying is good, in 100%, Vahn’s dying is a very bad thing since he loses out on EXP he wants for Master Course.

Put the Chicken King back on Noa if you took it off for the Speed Ring earlier. Also, heal and restore Gala’s MP. Return to the earlier room. Most of the rooms just have a short walk to the next portal, except for the last room (on the middle-left side of the room). Walk through the hidden doorway, then step on the portal in the top-left room to get to Caruban Lv.3 Caruban L3: Turn 1: Burning Flare / Tempest Break / ESM Turn 2: Ra-Seru Punch x(whatever) / Spirit / Lightning Storm (Explosive Fist if you have 150+ AGL)

Heal, restore Gala’s MP, All Waters on Vahn (not Noa this time since we want to buff him some for Master Course)

Saving isn’t a bad idea here either. Since we’re not giving Noa the Waters, we’ll have to do the slower strategy compared with what we can do in any%, but we’ll make up the time in Master Course.

Rogue (28,200) Turn 1: Magic Fruit Gala / Point Card / ESM Turn 2: Spirit / Point Card / ESM

Conkram (Past) II After you defeat Rogue, some scenes will play, and you’ll return to the Conkram of the Past. You’ll also get the Nemesis Gem from the King. Head into the back-left room and take the stairs to meet Noa’s mother.
Item 212: Minea’s Ring (talk to Minea in the Past) This is not strictly needed, but the extra HP is a godsend for the final three bosses. Head to the top-right room and return to the present. Make sure Noa has the Chicken King equipped if you took it off for Berserker L3 or Rogue.

Conkram II Leave the Mirror Room and head to the top-left room. Walk behind the Queen – walking in front of her will trigger some dialogue which you can skip. You need to pick up: Item 213: Healing Fruit (left door behind Queen) Item 214: Wonder Elixir (continue to Roof) Door of Light out of Conkram, then walk N to Absolute Fortress.

Absolute Fortress View the scene with Noa throwing the Nemesis Gem and destroying the Gate of HELL! Enter the dungeon. Use an Incense as you pass through the dungeon; you’ll need 4 to get through the dungeon, but may want 5 just in case. (10 left) Go ahead and recover your HP / MP at the fountain, then head to the right for: Item 215: Life Armband (cut off to left in Spring room) Go forward until the lake of Mist cutscene. When it ends, head to the right to pick up. Item 216: Rainbow Jewel (right at the lake of Mist) Double back to the left and head through the room. There will be another cutscene with Juggs tossing in its sleep. Continue on. In the next hallway, pass through the door to the N to get: Item 217: Golden Claw (room to north in hallway after Juggs cutscene) Continue back on the path. Head up the S stairs and get on the elevator to get the: Item 218: Wonder Amulet: (Central Rapid Elevator) Then double back to the previous room, take the north-central door (don’t head up the stairs) and pass through another room to get a chest containing: Item 219: Unholy Icon: (straight forward before elevator room): Now take the N stairs, save if you want, then head into the next room. Before you check the elevator controls, detour to the right to get: Item 220: Wonder Elixir (off to right in Jette’s Room)

Heal up (you shouldn’t need to), change equipment, and make sure you have the following accessories equipped: Vahn: Minea’s Ring / Defender Chain / Ebony Jewel Noa: Best Equipment, Ebony Jewel / Defender Chain / Power Ring Gala: Defender Chain / Ebony Jewel / Speed Chain

Go to the pedestal, hit the left switch and leave the pedestal to encounter Jette.

Jette (34,567 HP) Pretty much the same fight as Zora, except your party is a bit stronger, Jette is a bit stronger, and Jette can use Clone to make a clone. The clones only have 1 HP, 1 ATK, and minimal AGL. Use Vahn to pick them off. 10 Power Elixirs (you should have 28 left after this battle) on Noa, give her a Fury Boost (should have two left), and fire off a couple of Super Tempests. This fight really isn’t hard.

Equipment change: Vahn: Defender Chain -> Chicken King, Noa: Defender Chain -> Silver Compass, Gala: Defender Chain -> Evil Talisman (I wouldn’t bother healing here since you’ll be putting on some HP+ accessories before Cort and you shouldn’t get into fights beforehand.)

Rapid Elevator Switch to the right, head back to where you got the Wonder Amulet, and now you can get: Item 221: Great Axe (right Rapid Elevator). Double back to the elevator controls, Rapid Elevator Left and head back there to advance. At the fork in the road, head left first to get: Item 222: Warrior Icon (right at fork in road post-Elevator) Double back to the fork, head N, continue until you reach the elevator. When you get off the elevator, check behind the elevator and make sure you grab: Item 223: Lost Grail (behind final elevator before Cort) Leave, head through the next room, into the hall, and through the door into the Mist Generator Room. Once you’re there, equip:

Vahn: Chicken King-> Speed Ring; Noa: Silver Compass -> Life Armband; Gala: Evil Talisman -> Mei’s Pendant. Vahn should have: Minea’s Ring / Speed Ring / Ebony Jewel Noa: Ebony Jewel / Life Armband / Power Ring Gala: Ebony Jewel / Mei’s Pendant / Speed Chain

Heal up to full, encounter Cort.

Cort (50,000 HP) You get a free turn to stack Elixirs on Noa due to the shield. That’s nice. 12 Elixirs this time (20 left), then a Fury Boost. Then, use Noa’s Miracle Art (< ^ > v ^ < ^ v > ). This should break the shield. One Super Tempest more (> > < > > < ^ ^ ^), or even just some regular punches, should be enough. Cort’s moves: Guilty Cross: 950 – 1,150 non-elemental damage to one character. Ebony Jewels do not reduce this. Mystic Shield: 1,300-1,500 Dark damage to the party. Ebony Jewels will halve this. Evil Seru Magic: 2,500 – 2,800 Dark damage to the party. Ebony Jewels will halve this. Cort cannot use this spell while his shield is still up. Yes, your ESM is non-elemental. Yes, the inconsistency is noted. Yes, this is convenient for you. With HP+ accessories and Ebony Jewels, you can survive this. However, the animation is long as hell. Well over a minute, and close to the length of Sephiroth’s Supernova. So, we don’t want to see it cast. Hence, we want to try to break the shield, and then defeat Cort the following turn. This is why we use 12 elixirs here – this will do enough damage to break the shield all at once, which will prevent the awkwardness of ‘I did 22,000 damage and now need to wait three turns to restore my AP before I can attack again.’ Speaking of the shield: It breaks at 25,000 damage. While active, it negates all attacks from non-Art physical attacks. Damage from magic attacks is cut by 50%. However, Arts, as well as the Point Card (in this route, you won’t have any points on it) will deal their regular damage.

Eventually, Cort will fall. Congratulations, Noa. You just committed fratricide. Anyway, there will be a timer which plays. Rather than wait 30 seconds for the timer to run low and Cara to eventually rescue you, just use a Door of Light to be warped to the chute, and view the scenes that follow. Eventually, you’ll regain control of the party; Unequip Speed Chain from Gala, Speed Ring -> Speed Chain on Vahn, then head to what’s left of Conkram and view the scenes. You’ll be back in Rim Elm.

Rim Elm III Go to the shop: Sell: Warrior Icon, Magic Armband, Unholy Icon, Rainbow Jewel, Great Axe (make sure not to sell Wonder Amulet or Life Grail; you need both for Master Course) Buy: Azure Jewel x80 (or as many as you can afford, then sell and rebuy until 10000+ points) Talk to Tetsu, choose ‘I want to practice with you’. Use the Point Card turn 1 to instakill (he has 9999 HP) and you’ll get a reward for beating him. Item 224: Mettle Gem (Defeat Tetsu) Head to the Elder’s house to talk to Noa, then to the Genesis Tree to talk to Gala, then Songi will appear, summon Juggs, and other stuff happens.

Vahn: Ebony Jewel -> Chicken King; Gala: Ebony Jewel -> Evil Talisman; Noa: Ebony Jewel -> Silver Compass

Door of Light to the World Map, Door of Wind to Karisto Station

Karisto Station II Talk to the shopkeeper here. If you paid the money at the Honest Person’s Store earlier like you were instructed, you’ll get: Item 225: Vitality Ring (Talk to shopkeeper at Karisto Station)

Leave the Station, Door of Wind to Uru Mais: After the scene, head up the stairs to the ruins of the tunnel. Call to Tieg, and He will take you to Noaru Valley in the Seru-kai.

Noaru Valley: Use an Incense here (9 left). You’ll need to pick up these five items: Item 226: Life Water (first right in Noaru) Item 227: Triumph Armor (cut off first left in Noaru) Item 228: Magic Fruit (south after heading NE) Item 229: Healing Berry (north, then north more along narrow path) Item 230: Magic Water (west, then north, then west)

Equipment: Vahn: Best Equipment, Chicken King -> Ebony Jewel; Gala: Evil Talisman -> Ebony Jewel; Noa: Silver Compass -> Ebony Jewel. Head up the path to Encounter Final Songi.

Songi 3 (48,000 HP). Songi’s physical attacks are no joke. They can do as much as 3,400 damage, which can one-shot your party even with Ebony Jewels to halve the damage. Chaos Flare and Genocidal Cannon have longer attack animations, so you don’t exactly want to see those moves get used either. Chaos Flare will do about 1,700 (850 with Ebony Jewels) and Genocidal Cannon deals about 2,200 (1,100 with Ebony Jewels) to everyone. You will know when the Cannon is coming, because Songi will use only a single physical attack (as opposed to a 4-5 hit combo) the turn beforehand. Other than the impressively high damage output and the risk of getting party members killed (you should have a few phoenixes!), it’s pretty much the same fight as Jette/Zora. 10 Power Elixirs on Noa, then a Fury Boost, then go to town.

More cutscenes to follow, you’ll arrive on Mt. Rikuroa: Heal up, change equipment back: Vahn: Ebony Jewel -> Silver Compass; Gala: Ebony Jewel -> Bad Luck Bell if you need to learn more Arts on Noa, Evil Talisman if not, Speed Chain -> Chicken King; Noa: Ebony Jewel -> Speed Chain (Defender Chain -> Mettle Gem if needed).

Mt. Rikuroa II After Songi, learn any Arts with Noa that you haven’t yet learned, touch the Genesis Tree to get the Terra spell and final Ra-Seru evolution. Then put the Evil Talisman on Gala if you put the Bad Luck Bell on him earlier. Walk to the east side of Vahn’s path on Rikuroa to get two chests we skipped earlier. Item 231: Healing Leaf (right side on Mt. Rikuroa) Item 232: Vahn Fist (right side on Mt. Rikuroa) Door of Light off the Mountain, door of Wind to Biron, and walk to West Voz

West Voz Forest II Two chests that we skipped on the first trip: Item 233: Medicine (first right in West Voz) [39] Item 234: Medicine (right in next room in West Voz) [41] Now that Songi is defeated, there is a new chest where the rotten Genesis Tree stands. Item 235: Dark Stone (West Voz Gen. Tree)

Door of Light out, Door of Wind to Jeremi and take the Light Egg and Dark Stone in to Zalan to get worked on. Get the Light Talisman and Dark Talisman accessories, then warp to Rim Elm to start Bio-Castle.

Bio-Castle: Pass through Bio-Castle with 2 Incense, ignoring all random battles for the first pass until you get to Crimson Book. Equip it to Vahn. Speed Chain should be on Noa; use the Jedo spell with your Speed Chain user – Noa – to clear mobs, use Magic Fruit after every fight. Get these 18 items along the way) Item 236: Ra-Seru Armor (First chest in villi room) Item 237: Ra-Seru Robe (Second chest) Item 238: Ra-Seru Plate (3rd Chest) Item 239: Crimson Book (chest on path after first swimming room) Item 240: Ra-Seru Seal (down in second swimming room) Item 241: Ra-Seru Plume (right, then left in second room) Item 242: Ra-Seru Helmet (right, then right in second swimming room) Item 243: Lost Grail (Chest near Maya) Item 244: Ra-Seru Boots (another chest) Item 245: Life Armband (talk to Mei) Item 246: Ra-Seru Shoes (another chest in this room) Item 247: Miracle Water (talk to Val) Item 248: Mettle Goblet (hidden in the translucent ‘jewel’ room a couple seconds’ run below the next chest on the right side.) Item 249: Ra-Seru Thongs (chest in same room as Goblet) Item 250: Ra-Seru Club (first left in second ‘orb-path’? room) Item 251: Magic Armband (second right) Item 252: Ra-Seru Fangs (third right) Item 253: Ra-Seru Blade (fourth right)

Now, we begin the Seru aborption grind… Big yay… I’d make sure the following accessories are on, along with Ivory Books on at least two characters and Bad Luck Bell on the other: We can move Compasses, Bell, and Books around as needed, but this is a good baseline. Also, use the Miracle Water on Vahn along with any other Waters left in your inventory. Vahn: Best Equipment, Crimson Book / Silver Compass / Ivory Book Noa: Best Equipment, Vitality Ring / Bad Luck Bell / Ivory Book Gala: Best Equipment, Speed Chain / Golden Compass / Mettle Goblet

Note: Absorb rates are the base rate for the L3 versions of the Seru listed. Equipping an Ivory Book increases these percentages by a flat 30 percentage points. That is, a 70% absorb becomes 100%, and a 1% becomes 31% (and so forth)

Outside of Juggernaut: Vera L3: 1486 HP, 2808 EXP, 70% Absorb Gimard L3: 1242 HP, 2700 EXP, 80% Absorb Theeder L3: 1325 HP, 2745 EXP, 60% Absorb

Juggernaut’s Throat: Zenoir L3: 2800 HP, 2901 EXP, 40% Absorb Nighto L3: 1605 HP, 3402 EXP, 50% Absorb Gizam L3: 2192 HP, 2790 EXP, 50% Absorb

Villi Area: Orb L3: 3120 HP, 2850 EXP, 60% Absorb Nova L3: 3484 HP, 2880 EXP, 35% Absorb Swordie L3: 2780 HP, 2808 EXP, 35% Absorb

Cave to First Rapids: Gola Gola L3: 2400 HP, 2970 EXP, 35% Absorb Freed L3: 3518 HP, 2835 EXP, 35% Absorb

Beyond the First Rapids: Mushura L3: 2608 HP, 3060 EXP, 35% Absorb Viguro L3: 3020 HP, 3600 EXP, 35% Absorb Aluru L3: 2228 HP, 3015 EXP, 35% Absorb

Cavern of the Villagers: Barra L3: 2725 HP, 3825 EXP, 15% Absorb Spoon L3: 2450 HP, 4668 EXP, 15% Absorb

Translucent Jeweled Caves: Kemaro L3: 1940 HP, 3720 EXP, 15% Absorb

  • Kemaro are low in HP and Defense, and your levels should be pretty good by now, so this isn’t a bad enemy to grind Arts on with Vahn and Gala) Slippery L3: 3004 HP, 3900 EXP, 15% Absorb Iota L3: 2750 HP, 3990 EXP, 15% Absorb

Final Descent: Puera L3: 2000 HP, 3991 EXP, 15% Absorb Gilium L3: 3542 HP, 5250 EXP, 1% Absorb

This is the last opportunity you have to make sure that Vahn and Gala know all of their Arts, Hyper Arts, and Miracle Art. Once Vahn is minimum L41 and all characters know all Magic except for Vahn and Gala’s Ra-Seru spell, warp out with Door of Light, Door of Wind to Biron, and walk to East Voz.

East Voz Forest II Item 254: Guardian Water (chest trapped by Crystal Grass in 1st room of East Voz) [51] Item 255: Healing Flower (left beyond previous chest) [49] Item 256: Cure Amulet (last left in next room) [53] Item 257: Antidote (chest in left of next room) [54] Item 258: Survival Club (adjacent chest) [55]

Check the Genesis Tree and get the Ozma spell. Door of Light out, Door of Wind to Buma and head to Dhini. Head up to the summit (2x Incense)

Equip: Vahn: Crimson Book / Lost Grail / Lost Grail Noa: Evil Talisman / Chicken King / Silver Compass Gala: Light Talisman / Dark Talisman / Speed Chain

Save your game for safety, encounter Lapis on the summit. Lapis will use Lapis Wave the ambush turn. Run from the fight, then save again for safety.

Ambush Turn: Someone is going to die. If it’s Gala, run from the fight and then reload your save. If Vahn dies, you lose a Lost Grail. Noa getting hit is best. Turn 1: Magic Fruit Gala / (Magic Fruit Gala) / Spirit (Gala should survive with Light Talisman and Spirit) Turn 2: Spirit / (Spirit) / Jedo Lapis. Lapis isn’t protected from Jedo’s insta-kill. Yes, it’s cheap. But no, there’s no faster way of beating this fight. We don’t need Lost Grails for JuggerCort in this category. Ideally Lapis will kill Noa so Vahn gets 46K EXP instead of 31,500 if all three are alive.

Arrange items, heal, Guardian Water on Vahn, Door of Wind to Sol:

Sol II: Return to the Genesis Tree in the basement and touch it for Vahn to learn the Meta Spell. Go to the items shop on the 2nd Floor: Sell all obsolete weapons and armor, all magic restoratives Equip on Vahn: Life Grail / Defender Chain / Wonder Amulet; it’s time for Master Course. Fights 1-7: Just use Ra-Seru punches. You may wish to double Fire Blow against the Gold Bison and on Xain when you have the AP. Spirit into Terio Punch to save HP; you do want to have as much as possible going into Dohati. Once you’ve dealt 7k damage to Xain, don’t use AP; you want to have at least 60 or so starting Match 8. Match 8: Dohati: Spirit on turn 1 against Chaos Breath. Do Fire Breath / Burning Flare on turn 2, then just use Ra-Seru punches. Spirit if your HP falls under 1500 at the start of the turn. Match 9: Lu Delilas: Spirit every third turn. Use Fire Blow -> Burning Flare if you have AP, otherwise, just regular punches will do. Spirit if your HP falls under 1400 at the start of the turn. Match 10: Che Delilas: Same as Lu. Spirit when HP < 1600 Match 11: Gi Delilas: Just do Fire Blow -> Burning Flare / Spirit / Spirit every three turns. Once you’ve dealt 8k damage, switch to Ra-Seru punches every turn, making sure to Spirit on the third turn of each three-turn cycle. Match 12: Zora. Last two fights are toughies, no? Use Spirit whenever HP < 1800. Dark Typhoon is annoying for sure, especially since we don’t have another accessory spot for an Ebony Jewel. Spirit when you need to recover HP or don’t have AP for Miracle Arts, and fire off Miracles or Fire Blow -> Burning Flare when you can. Glare is a turn waste if she ever uses it thanks to Wonder Amulet. Match 13: Jette. Same strategy as before, but Jette has 12,000 more HP and more ATK/DEF, so the fight will take longer. Yay… Clones have 1HP; I recommend dispatching them quickly, but not at the cost of falling low on HP. When you beat the Master Course, you get:

Item 259: War God Icon (beat Master Course)

You’ll also get 13,830 coins, so you should have enough to also get: Item 260: Earth Egg (100,000 coins at Muscle Dome) If you need a round of slots or two, do so. You should also have the money to purchase 5-6k coins at the 100 G per coin exchange rate. Get 4 Incense for the walk through Bio-Castle as well.

Return to Rim Elm, walk to final save point: Vahn: Life Armband / Defender Chain / Doesn’t Matter Noa: Power Ring / Life Armband / War God Icon Gala: Minea’s Ring / Defender Chain / Speed Chain

6 Wonder Elixirs, 6 Power Elixirs on Noa, then Ra-Seru Punch x9 (doubled to x18). Characters can survive Doomsday if this happens to not be quite enough damage, but it should be fine. Honestly, as strong as we are after 3 hours of grinding in the final dungeon, we’re good to finish the actual easiest fight in the game because we are so (relatively) overleveled compared with how we were for pretty much the whole game.

Endgame cutscenes, choose your ending, then talk to Village Elder twice to leave the village and view the credits! The endgame stat-screen will follow at the very end of the credits.

You just completed a speedrun of Legend of Legaia, and obtained 100% completion to boot. Sure, you didn’t do quite everything, but you did everything the game tracks on the endgame completion screen, which is pretty nice. In any case, go take a nap and eat something, because you’re probably exceptionally tired at this point.
