Does the timer have to be paused for a sleep break though?

@NateCC14NateCC14 The way I see it is that your speedrun PB reflects how long you have to play the game for in a single attempt in order to beat it. If you play the game for 10 hours, take a break for 14 hours, and then play the game for another 10 hours, then you've beaten the game by playing it for 20 hours

Fair enough, it definitely depends on the length of the speedrun, though.

did my notifs seriously just skip 10 or so messages? good website.
anyway, "not pausing timer = no sleep breaks" is a hell of a strawman, RTA is RTA. if you think you can't handle doing this without sleep breaks, DON'T.
as long as the other multimario categories do not allow pausing timer, this will not allow it either. 602 is the same length as BotW 100% without sleep breaks and it doesn't even allow breaks longer than 1 hour even assuming the timer is not paused.
i can change the 72 hour rule to maybe 100 hours if enough people really want me to, i just really don't want some casual sellout doing a SMCS 100% run in 500 hours and stealing the bounty from someone who was going to put actual effort in learning all of the games for real.

Yeah, I think most of the categories on this board shouldn't be run RTA, not just this bounty. Mitigating the health risks associated with going this long is more important than "RTA is RTA." RTA should not be the measure of success for categories longer than probably twelve hours, but I'm okay with up to 14 hours. Heck, there's a number of games that are abandoning RTA for even short games. IGT (In Game Time) has slowly been taking over.

I think that the only categories that are up for debate on whether they should be run RTA are the 1862 and this. Keeping the challenge RTA is reasonable though. If the mods want to switch to TA, that's up to them in the end. Also, the main reason why IGT is taking over in some games is loading time inconsistencies.

Someone has talked about using a thing called "ISO" for NSMBW. I don't exactly know what that is, can a mod please fill me in on what it is and whether it is allowed for other multimario runs?

@ArtismScrubArtismScrub they're probably referring to emulator since Wii games are called ISO's. Emulator for NSMBW under no circumstances should be allowed since loading times load way faster than they would on a Wii console, and the loads depend on your pc hardware.

I know who was asking about the ISO for NSMBW, and he was meaning that he wanted to USB load it through his Wii since he doesn't have a copy.

a USB loader isn't much better since it has the exact same load issue as emulator

in game rules of the all wii games it says usb loading and emulators are banned (so SMG1,NSMBW,SMG2 can only be done with oficial disk and console) but sms 100% game rules say you can use emulator if the run is over 3:40
