Learning Blindfolded and Practicing

Hey! I've been learning blindfolded and I have two questions.

  1. Are Sinister1's blindfolded tutorials the best guides for blindfolded? What other resources are there? They've been very helpful, however, they're a bit old at this point so I'm wondering if there have been any new, more consistent or optimal strategies to some of the fights or if I'm learning the best strategies already.

  2. Is there a way to practice individual fights without having to go through the opponents before them? I've been practicing Honda 1 but on NES I obviously have to use codes and there aren't savestates, so when I want to practice Honda I first have to beat Joe and Kaiser. If that's just how it is then I'll just do it the old fashioned way. But I'm wondering if there are modified versions of the game or an emulator with really low latency.

  1. I'm no expert (I've only ever made it halfway through learning blindfolded), but yes. Learn from his tutorials. There is even information to be gleaned from the difference between his two tutorials--2014 vs 2016. Learn the absolute basics, then focus on intermediate/advanced strats (through trial and error, or even just watching leaderboard videos after you know how the basics work). IMHO there is absolutely no point in optimizing until you can do it unoptimized--sort of a "known unknowns" and "unknown unknowns" thing.

  2. If you insist on learning on an NES, buy an EverDrive or PowerPak. Otherwise, look at the rules for the blindfolded category. Any of those options are acceptable and a vast majority of them support save states.
