I just checked for the characters for the heck of it and they match so unless he is an incredibly good splicer he probably isn't splicing. He is just very good at the game and has been practicing his lines for years unlike you who has only been going at it since late December according to your profile. Nothing ''fishy'' is happening, just study his lines and get better. If you need help with anything you can ask people in the discord on the left. You can even ask him yourself.

Jesse is an extraordinarily good player. He is extremely consistent with his driving and making difficult NISCs. Shield has decent lines, but they’re no comparison. That’s the truth, and I’m sure both of them would agree. No offense, but I think part of your doubt comes from inexperience. Just try racing a time trial world record ghost and you’ll see that tight lines save HUGE amounts of time. Definitely enough to make up for a few red shells. That fact will be reaffirmed over and over as you play more.

Jesse does, however, have an EXTREMELY fast-loading Switch, which I also questioned and examined at first but now just accept as a fair advantage. It’s not like we can force him to use a different console or something. He’s lucky.

He has been active in the Discord and has defended himself and tried to help out, so I believe his times are legitimate.

If we can take a lesson away from this, it’s the benefit of deliberate practice. Actually practicing individual tracks and strategies as well as driving with the intent to improve will make a much larger impact than playing mindlessly and hoping for good RNG.

(Also the benefit of having good load times. Which isn’t really controllable outside of getting the digital version but oh well)
