Category Changes (Exploits/No Exploits)

We're making some changes to how our board looks to support the recent string of submissions showing some new skips! (Thanks mooing_cowmilk :D )

Instead of seeing "Any% Glitchless" and "Any%" categories, ALL runs will now be condensed into one category, with variables for "No Exploits" and "Exploits".

"Exploits" will be considered as utilizing a bug, either vanilla Minecraft or game-code, to play the map in an unintended way. Unintended ways include going out of the intended bounds of the map and phasing through blocks (list subject to change).

We really enjoyed seeing the new glitches and skips found, but we wanted to make sure we were separating the categories in such a way that vanilla runs through the game can still be competitive, but runs utilizing the skips can also be competitive. Thanks for reading (and playing!).

Worth noting as well, we're moving around the old runs to be compatible with the new system. It's going to take some time, as the website likes to update things very slowly. Thanks for your patience!

Question regarding timing. Since different devices would have different loading times when it comes to relogging, should a timing method be added to deal with this difference? Otherwise it might just come down to who has the better pc

I don't mind having the discussion here if multiple viewpoints want to get involved. The way we're currently leaning: it's the runner's choice to pursue methods which may require relogging. As a result, the time spent relogging is a part of the run.

may want to look into this: Currently all the pre-approved level leaderboard runs involving exploits no longer follow the new rules. The main reason is that it states: "Must go through the whole tunnel." of which no exploit run does. (Under the old rules when it was glitch, any method of skipping was allowed). This applies to all individual levels including all sections. -Thanks

Yep, fair point. Looking into rewriting this in a way that actually makes sense under the new system.

I know it has been a long time since I played, but have a question. Is having additional resource pack(s) allowed? Are certain ones banned? and is there a difference for Exploits and non-Exploits runs?

Edit: optifine and it's custom resource packs?
