Thread: Requesting Marathons

Started by: GyooGyoo

20 Jun 2019, 19:10

Hello,

I'd very much like to request an allowance for an online marathon called Speed Gaming for Animals (Or just SGA Marathon).
As the name suggests, we'd love support our wildlife, making the World Wildlife Foundation, WWF, a perfect candidate. The marathon will take place on the weekend of August 10th - 11th and will be entirely online. However all of the crew behind the marathon will be located in the same location thoughout, to make sure it all runs smoothly through the night.

We expect the marathon to run for 48 hours with no breaks. However, if we don't manage to get enough submissions to fill out the entire thing, we may have breaks in between.

Regarding the channel the marathon will be hosted on, we are currently negotiating with a third party channel, but the worst case scenario is that it will be streamed on my own channel (twitch.tv/thmcs).

All the runs in the final schedule will be performed by runners that have submitted to the marathon. This is not for self promotion and is entirely for charity.

Thread: Korean version confirmed fastest known version as of Dec 2017

Unfortunately, a poll carried out in a twitch stream doesnt have any influence on how these boards are run. We are a team of moderators that have all been in the Sly series for longer than most. Keep in mind that viewers voting on a poll is entirely arbitrary as the viewers of people's streams really shouldn't affect how we as a speedrunning community runs. All mods agreed on this. If any RUNNER has any issues with this, they can bring it up with the mod team. We were all relatively vocal and we all agreed that adding another leaderboard was a complete waste of effort and simply too arbitrary to be considered.

Speedrunning is a hobby. And as with any other hobby, you'll need to spend money if you want the best equipment. This case is no different. Making a separate leaderboard for the Korean version would mean we would have to make a separate leaderboard for every single different version. We will not be flooding the boards with pointless leaderboards. Thank you.

Is it possible to maintain the American flag as opposed to the British one, even if you're from Europe, because preference.

I like your otter picture, but emulator is too inaccurate in most cases to be considered for the leaderboards. Crayons basically summed it up, and it's why our usual response is "you can't use emulator because it's too inaccurate," because that's simply how it is. Generally too lazy to go in depth with why and how it's inaccurate, but it has quite a few flaws that makes it unfair and just weird to play.

Idk if its really something we need to look into or enforce. I feel as though it works just fine as is now, especially because this cannot be used on a platform like the PS2. As for PS3, its a console and its hard to tell if the harddrive differences will play a role. Same goes for arbitrary things like language and versions.

While it would be cool for people with slower loads, we can't really be sure that is it accurate.

I think this is a thing that is easier to discuss on a platform like discord, so if you want a saying it in Cuber, you can just log onto discord. You know you're always welcome 🙂

Listen to me, I do not care what you think the rules says. If your game does not have a normal ingame timer, then your game is not vanilla. Something is wrong. I do not care about your video. I do not care about whether or not its a glitch. The matter of fact is that this run is invalid. Your ingame timer isnt right. I am not interested in going back and fourth with this. I don't care if you intended on having this time or not. It doesn't matter. This is not kindergarten, your run is invalid and you're gonna have to deal with it.

Your run isn't legit. I doesn't matter if you're aware of it or not. If you legitimately think it is okay for you to have a run like that to be classified as World Record, then you don't even deserve to be on the leaderboard at all. Like I genuinely cannot believe that you're trying to defend this. Are you that thick? Get a grip.

Your ingame timer is evidently not running properly. You cannot seriously expect us to not act when this clear cut evidence is presented. I dont know what you did to your game, but we're not allowing it here.

For the record, leftfornova isn't banned from the leaderboard, however we will pay close attention to his submissions for the future.

Last night, a run of Gun Range only was set by user "leftfornova" to the CS:GO leaderboards claiming the world record with a 19 second run. However, after looking at the video, it was painfully obvious that something was wrong. The execution of the run was sub par and something didn't add up, so I put them side by side.

Here's the proof that the ingame timer in leftfornova's run has been manipulated in some way. Its incredibly obvious that the former record is done faster, which this video proves.

As the title would suggest, I would like to know if this is a possibility, and if not, I'd suggest that as an improvement to the site. Would like to clean up some boards without going all nazi on people and completely removing their times, just hiding them per default, similar to what you can do to emulated runs.

Hi

I recently got a namechange from tHmCS to my current one, mikl, and I guess something might've messed up. I've only submitted one run after the change, but my name isnt showing up on the leaderboard, and the run isnt showing on my profile. It's just a blank space. If you press it, it says I submitted the run though.
