pretty interesting but the question is, does the time loss having to work around the elevator in this way still out weigh the time gained from playing on pc with no delay in load times and faster codec calls? I know in all boss mode the difference is huge so it makes the run much faster in the end, but with all the backtracking needed for the stinger cause of the elevator being completely broken on pc version I'm not sure if this would truly produce a faster run or not would be interesting to test out though thanks for the information.

Just did a mock run, 58:09. Minutes of mistakes. 55:xx would be a good time to shoot for. So yeah game is under an hour.

You are right though, the time saved makes you about equal with PS1 but:

1. Still is faster if only barely
2. No bs PS2 fast disc load speed to contend with anymore, even playing ground for everyone

The reason it turns out faster is that you can skip EVERY cutscene at the end (even Ocelot talking to the President). That is why it turns out quicker, it's super close though.

Like I said 55-56 minutes would be optimal run and the ending credits is 6-7 minutes. That gives you approx the same time as the lower PS1 times.

Nice job on the route change, willing to move to PC as I run on PSTV right now with the PAL version of the game. The issue is finding the game, I'm just wondering though if this patch to work on modern hardware/OS would be allowed for runs. https://www.reddit.com/r/metalgearsolid/comments/4qlv1c/final_full_release_metal_gear_solid_1_integral_pc/

According to the person who made the patch, none of the game files have been touched. http://i.imgur.com/GKwdFw3.png

Let me know. Thank you.

Yip, that is what I am using. It's literally the only way you can play the game on modern Windows. The original exe will not even launch (says something about crash and will run in software mode, but never does). If you don't use this version, you need to use some fixed exe from GameCopyWorld which will make your PC run 640x480 windowed and be a total mess.

Oh also since not many people know this, you can't attempt a run on Very Easy mode. The game gives you no results screen, thus no IGT. Has to be ran on Easy mode or higher.

No idea why the modern port has a black bar at the bottom btw, just how they designed it to fit widescreen I guess.

Could a mod answer my question 2 posts above

Given that my All Bosses run was verified, you are good to go Odyssic.

Thought about another route change. We can save a decent amount of time with the wolf caverns skip now since we require box B anyway when first getting to B1. Do it the initial time right after Mantis life upgrade and again on the way back for the Stinger.

Timecode should play of what I mean, if not it's 25:20.

That's a good point Thrillness. I've yet to replicate that OoB on PC, but that helps remove the randomness of the caves.

You need to make sure you are right on the edge at bottom left. The little crevice area isn't solid and should be easily replicated.

I actually think it's harder to see out of bounds on PC version so you need to make sure you have a proper setup to get right into the loading trigger or else the time saves are going to be much less.
