What category should a beginner start with Minecraft speedrun?

  1. Obtain Item (usually takes 1s-5 minutes) You need to find and take an emerald, a diamond or a Golden Apple. With structures, this will be fast, but without structures, it will take a little longer. The essence of this category is successful search or extraction of resources. This is not difficult, but if you want to do it quickly, you will have to think about improving some of your skills. This will start your progress. For example, you need to learn how to use hot keys and place items correctly and conveniently in the hotbar.

2)get Item-Cake (takes 20s-10 minutes) The task is complicated by the fact that you need to use more components. You need to collect the ingredients for the cake and craft it. You will need cane, eggs, and wheat.

  1. All Swords (takes 1-20 minutes) You need to craft all the swords from all the available ores.

  2. All Wood Logs (Takes 2-20 minutes) You need to get all kinds of trees. To do this, you will have to learn how to quickly look around and move around the world.

  3. SSG Enter Nether (takes 3-10 minutes)

  4. RSG Enter Nether (takes 3-10 minutes) You need to get an iron bucket to make a portal and enter the Nether. This is the simplest thing. You can use this skill in the following categories. As you improve this, you will automatically improve your crafting and movement skills in Minecraft.

  5. All Minerals (takes 1-10 minutes) You need to mine Coal, Iron Ingot, Gold Ingot, Redstone, Lapis Lazuli, Diamond, Emerald, and Nether Quartz. Check the rules.

8 ) SSG Full Iron Armor and 15lvl (takes 3-15 minutes) 9) RSG Full Iron Armor and 15lvl (takes 3-15 minutes) In addition to the fact that you need to quickly get to Nezer, you need to collect a lot of iron, melt it down and craft armor. In Nezer, you need to gain 15 experience levels by collecting quartz or visiting biomes in 1.16+.

  1. SSG Peaceful (takes 3-20 minutes)

  2. RSG Peaceful (takes 30-60 minutes) This is an attempt to complete the passage of Minecraft, without wasting time and nerves on the battle with mobs. A very useful category for beginners, which will allow you to go to the end without losing health and get used to reaching the end. Then you just need to increase the complexity.

  3. SSG (takes 30-60 minutes)

  4. RSG (takes 20 minutes-2 hours) Having mastered the passage with hostile mobs on Easy, set the difficulty to Normal or Hard. At the same time, we will starve more often, the wounds will be stronger, and the arrows will hit you more accurately. This will make you move faster and more carefully. You will learn all the survival skills.

  5. SSG All Bosses (takes 30-60 minutes)

  6. RSG All Bosses (takes 60 minutes-3-4 hours) You need to complete Minecraft by killing the Edge dragon, Wither, and Elder Guardian. If you want to practice killing Wither (10-30 minutes) and Elder Guardian (1-5 minutes), you can also participate in these separate categories.

16)All Version Try an endurance marathon )) You need to go through all the versions in a row.

You don't have to participate in all the short categories. I consider them training. It is best to completely pass Minecraft. It is always the center of attention. In fact, for training complete passage of beginners, I recommend using a special mod: https://github.com/DuncanRL/speedrun-mod/ Works in version 1.16+ with Fabric The mod allows you to train individual skills:

Nether Fortress Bastion Practice Eye Stronghold End Practice 1.14.4 Trading Practice TNT Practice Bed (One Cycling) Practice ...

In the mod, you will already have all the necessary items and items. You don't have to search for a village or fortress. If you do not succeed, you can train it with this mod from Duncan.

I'm new still and here's what I've been doing:

  1. Enter Nether - this gives me practice on villages, wood/stone early game, what to loot and what not, finding lava pools and building the portal, and if I find an immediate fortress, blaze practice, gold find/trade/protecting myself with no armor, etc. Sometimes I do this as a pure enter nether (no beds, no food) but most of the time I'm going in as if I'd try to complete it.

  2. Full inventory - gives me something to do with flower forest and spruce village spawns. Pretty sure most people do this in flower forest, pretty sure I'll get the WR doing it in a spruce village one day... It's a good way not to feel bad when you reset and get a useless (dragon%) spawn.

  3. Obtain item - agreed with the OP on this one. I put up a 13 second golden apple and was immediately addicted. Keeps your eyes fresh in a new world if you're thinking about it.

  4. All wood logs - MUCH hard in 1.16.1 compared to old versions but if I spawn in a jungle near (dark oak or savanna) I immediately start thinking "if I get a good nether spawn" and making a run at it.

  5. RSG Dragon% - keeps me motivated. I know this is the goal. Gotta work on it sometimes and do full runs.

  6. Guardian% - I mean, you are on a deserted island with 1 tree. Quick reset or play it for 2 mins and reset? It's fun to try. :) Good adrenaline rush for slow times.

Interested in all minerals but what's the kick to this? Iron, gold & lapis in a shipwreck, diamond in a temple, drop down into a ravine's water and grab coal & redstone before making a quick portal and going to nether for quartz? That could definitely be fun.

Cake could also be fun, I guess ... not sure it's skill building but an interesting one in some scenarios.

Practice mod looks great - I use the one-cycle practice, of course, but could use that mod.

A frame that you can fit in any categories to your liking:

  1. Short categories 2)challenge or achievement
  2. Simplified full walkthrough 4)Complete Minecraft walkthrough

You can guess that if someone likes the Full inventory category or performing some kind of achievement, challenge, then why not try this category on the second step? I didn't mention any categories, such as the Hero of the village. I think this also applies to the second step because it takes a little more time and requires skill.

For a beginner, the most important thing is not to take on too complex categories, so as not to be upset by failures. After all, some masters have succeeded by making thousands of unsuccessful attempts. Famously said radicalelder: "It's a good way not to feel bad when you reset and get a useless (dragon%) spawn." It's very frustrating to waste a lot of effort without getting any PB (Personal Best). If you first set simple goals, short categories, you will be in a good mood to continue training. I think that the most important thing in this hobby is not the result created in pain, but life in the pleasure of what you play and you succeed. You may not be able to appear among the top players in a year or 5 years, but you were overjoyed when you set an achievable goal and conquered this small peak. You went up and beat yourself in the past. I think that the main victory is that you will have a lot of reasons for mental comfort from what you have mastered and what you have achieved. World Champions don't have as much joy as a rookie who jumps with happiness when he has improved his PB. Even if it was not a full walkthrough, but just Full inventory, it gives you no less joy. There is a lot of joy ahead...

Start with the smallest, short category. Start enjoying your every success. You don't have to send your own PB to the site. Beginners like to spam with their PB's. This is not necessary. Do as I do. On my channel, I post all my PB, but I send one to the site that I can't improve for a long time. The joy of this is no less. You play primarily for your own joy.

When you look at the standings now, you see an unassailable mountain of names with incredibly fast results. It seems that it is impossible to conquer this peak for you. There seems to be no reason to be particularly happy when you are in the 60th place or even in the 20th. But you must understand an interesting illusion of time. After all, once the best time was so big. I remember when 1.16 started in 50 minutes and they were the Champions. I created a file with the history of world records. Look: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1oVWftKpb3KdUfSZZP8JOcQ6HbbzaLNUnsy62HIUHwrA You will see there that in the spring of 2017, RSG 1.9+ was over an hour old. Because when you run for an hour, you are the 2017 world champion. Can you imagine? You are not a beginner - you are the 2013 world champion if you run in 2 hours. )) So you get a good reason to be happy.

Interesting? Given example... I never chased after new technology, knowing full well that in a few years it will become more affordable when it becomes obsolete. At the same time, I will get this thing as functional and useful, but easier and cheaper. I just know how to wait and live in the past. Similarly, if you do not chase the expensive and difficult to achieve now, learn to be content with what is outdated, it will be a great reason to spend time happily. Retro champion is a great result. ))

A 2013 champion or 2017 champion is a champion, even if they are at the bottom of the table right now.

  1. tyger_plays. 2: 12: 00 WR (2019 Mar 13) is currently ranked 340. Did you beat him to it? Congratulations!!!))

Want more fun, novice speedrunner? Try to divide the leaderboard into small segments. For example, remove the top 200 or top 50 players in your mind and imagine that the remaining place at the top is the top that you want to conquer. Do you imagine yourself the champion of the 200 seats. Then discover the top 100, top 50 and become the champion of the 50th place. If there are about 350 people in RSG 1.9+ now, then you are a 300-person champion. Isn't that something to be happy about?

There will always be those who are better than us and not all will become leaders, but everyone can find a reason for joy by organizing their own competitions. So, I watched Japanese speedrunners having fun like this for a while. They had their own standings, their own website with results. They competed with their clan, among their friends. You can learn from this.

Some of you are actually world Champions in your country. Even if you are not the strongest, but were the first to submit your run on the site, you are Champions for your country or for your friends. Understand this fascinating principle. For a long time, the champion for Russia was Keyta, now it is Dimeax. This way you can create different statistical dimensions for the standings and find a reason to be happy.

Players have fun making their attempts with the sub 60, Sub 50, Sub 40, Sub 30 statement. When they succeed, they become Champions of the past so often. Set yourself the same goals and become Champions not of all time, not of all people, but of your friends, your country or your city, for 2017, not for 2020. That's great, too. Life consists of pleasant little things. Let it be just a lot of fun, if there is not something super-cool and great... Am I right?
