Difference between European and American versions ?

So I have been running this game for several days and I am really enjoying it, but today I have found out that the game probably runs slower on an European Wii than on an American one... Here is how I found out : I compared the first cutscene between my PB video and three "American" PBs (360Chrism, Airshock22 and Lime_Flavored_Dragon) and in all cases the cutscene runs faster at the same rate (I lose around 6s in a minute). Then I compared with TheErgkjr's PB and the cutscene runs at the same speed as in my PB. Maybe it something like a difference between PAL and NTSC, 50/60Hz I don't know. My question is : is this true ? If yes, then I feel like there should be something to make notice this difference, be it a sentence in the rules (something like "American version is preferred since it runs faster") or separating the leaderboard. I felt a huge disappointment when I discovered that by myself, I do not want anybody to feel the same in the future...

Hey mohoc,

Although I don't know the exact details, yes, Mario Party games have a tendency to run at 50Hz on PAL. This does mean they run at a slower speed than 60Hz versions of the game. This issue is known, and it sucks, but nothing will be done about this. This kind of stuff falls under "region differences". Some regions will have faster versions of a game, such as Japan, where there is less text in general. This is just accepted in speedrunning.
