Leaderboard changes

Hello everyone!

I've made a few changes to the leaderboards, mostly clean-up.

  • A new category, Bowser Party (Bowser) All Boards, was added.
  • The difficulty subcategory was implemented on every category.
  • Digital vs Disk was removed. If someone can prove to me that it matters enough, I'll re-add them.
  • Rules for some categories were clarified (and taken out of a pastebin)
  • Amiibo Boards ILs were removed, as they were all empty. If there's enough interest, I'll re-add them.

I considered moving Individual Bowser Party Boards to the IL section, but SRC is pretty bad at ILs. As such, for now, they will remain in Full Game Categories. I will try to move them if this website is ever not awful at ILs.

If anyone has any suggestions (or complaints), please let me know!

Why exactly do all of the difficulties have to be separate categories?

Hi I am complaining about the decision to make every single difficulty into their own categories and suggesting that they are made back into how they used to be. I also would like to hear the reasoning for making such a decision in the first place.

I can list a few reasons why I think this is a bad idea -Leaderboards look and feel too complicated and cramped especially for a game as unpopular as this. -There is already very little competition in this game and making the difficulties into separate categories just makes that even worse. -The difficulties are barely any different from each other. I'm talking specifically about the difference between difficulties like normal and hard or easy and normal. It would make much more sense to just have one category with the choice of choosing the difficulty for your run. If people want to see runs for a specific difficulty only, there could just be a dropbox option for that. -Let's say someone plays with 2 computers, one is on easy and one is on master. Which category would this run even fall to?

Hi Vallu. :)

I'm not a mod, I just run lots of Mario Party games and I'm in charge of the Octathlon.

Some people were talking about doing a Decathlon and including Mario Parties 9 and 10, so I requested that those boards be examined and cleaned up because they were drastically different from the rest of the series.

The mods changed it because every other Mario Party has difficulty leaderboards when available. And they were trying to line everything up with the rest of the series.

With the Octathlon, people compete on "Normal" difficulty for every game. If people were to do a decathlon, and came to MP10, and did normal there, they would be at a disadvantage to the leaderboards where people run on easy.Or, 10 would be special, and it would seem out of place.

No runs are ever done with CPUs on different difficulties.

I think, when you look at the Mario Party series, the boards actually look cleaner now because they line up with the rest of the series. :)
