Hello everyone,

I would like to start speedrunning Mappy but I can't use an emulator on my device, that's why this crazy question comes to me: since the game found in the My Arcade model is exactly the same, can I speedrun Mappy on it, as long as the recording is clean?

Unfortunately not, it has to be unaltered original ROM (or official re-release, but this one is not), even if alteration doesn't influence gameplay technically (which is as well not 100% ceratin in this case, it just looks similar at first glance). My Aracde version is no doubt altered version of original ROM, which is easily visible on the title screen with different copyright info and removed option for 2 Players, so this version cannot be utilized.

Don't do the online game version, download a emulator. (I recommend nestopia) and download a mappy rom

Put the rom inside the emulator

There are many tutorials on YouTube for setting up nestopia

Unfortunately, all of online emulators are not allowed currently (rules need to be updated regarding them). This is still grey area, which is not researched properly so far, thus I cannot tell, if they are accurate enough to be utilized (and definitely some of them lack decent amount of accuracy at first glance). Hope, you will find some way for speedrunning, some mobile emulators are allowed, if this can be solution for you.
