You all use Cracked Version in every run ....

mattmcgrath point that all ready in another Thread.

There is no Official Version that allow to enter whatever to the LAB Door before DR. Fred plays Meteor Mess. (NES Version with the 0000 before Dr.Fred play is the only exception) If you can enter a number to open the door before you use a Cracked version. Even you name it than "Door Lab Mode" that rose will still smell.

Some try to hide that and enter one of the 4 Valid Codes (and state that it was luck in the Comments). But again without DR.Fred Play the Meteor Mess Game the Lab Door not accept anything and will close forever.

So that Crack/Modification change the Original behave of the game.

It that was the community will show up ? Hey i can run a run in 4-5 min but only if i use a cracked version ? Any competitor will need also use that crack Version to get a change ? And we named that than "Lab Door Mod" to hide that we all use a Cracked Version to get that timings ?

Don't get me wrong. The run are impressed and very cool pleasured to see them. Like to see to use the system to skip Green and Purpur.

It's not a cracked version. If you purchase the Steam version, it has the copy protection disabled (i.e. the Lab Door Mod). The only one who "cracked" the game is LucasArts.

"There is no Official Version that allow to enter whatever to the LAB Door before DR. Fred plays Meteor Mess. (NES Version with the 0000 before Dr.Fred play is the only exception)"

This is simply not true. The Steam version IS an official version that allows this (any code works on the door).

The purpose of there being a distinction at all is so that if someone wants to run the original version of the game on native hardware, they can do that and still differentiate the run from others.

If you want to run the game with the copy protection, you can. Just don't click Lab Door Mod when you submit your run, and it will indicate that you completed the run with copy protection in place (differentiating it from the other runs). You can then use the filter button to exclude 'Lab Door Mod' runs, giving the proper ranking for 'copy protection' runs.

take my apology, i was not aware that Lucas/Disney/IP Holder going and sell this versions on the free market. I now that Lucas do it earlier but only to remove the Copy Protect door in the 1st flow (Nuke'm-Alarm) and not this "shity" crap "crack" Version that ruin the half game for anybody expect runners.

I own the Dott Version (with mailbox Bug under plain dos/Dos box) and a Single Version that was on a game mag with other games. Both got only Disables Nuke's-Alarm Door and not modification the rest of the game.

In case anyone is still interested, this ScummVM commit provides more information on what the "Lab Door Mod" is.

Long story short: The digital release from 2017, that comes pre-configured with ScummVM 2.0.0, was shipped with a way to remove the copy protection, that had bad side-effects. Years later in 2021, the ScummVM devs themselves fixed the issue. So if you want to run the "Lab Door Mod" category nowadays, you need to use the version of ScummVM that comes with the game (or at least one that is older than 2.4.0).
